MERCER COUNTY REPUBLICAN CONVENTION 2014 CONVENTION RULES Candidate Selection Meeting Rules 1. The voting members of the Candidate Selection Meeting of the Mercer County Regular Republican Organization shall be Registered Republicans, serving as: a. County Committee Member b. Municipal Leaders c. County Chairman d. Elected State and County Officials representing Mercer County 2. The Municipal Leader shall be the official representative of the delegation and the recognized spokesman thereof. 3. The Municipal Leader shall certify the names of their delegation prior to the date of the Candidate Selection Meeting. 4. The committee on credentials shall be appointed by the County Chairman and will resolve any credential disputes, and their decision shall be final. No person shall gain access to the floor of the convention without his or her credentials. All candidates shall be given credentials. 5. The Order of Business at the Candidate Selection Meeting shall be: a. Welcome b. Opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance c. Introduction of the County Chairman d. Call to Order e. Nomination and Elections f. Invocation and Closing 6. Nominating speeches shall be limited to three minutes followed by a maximum of two seconds without speeches. Each shall have the right and opportunity to deliver a five-minute nomination acceptance speech. 7. Election shall be by secret paper ballot. Each voting member shall have only one vote. Unit voting will not be permitted. All ballots will be returned

Candidate Selection Meeting Rules1. The voting members of the Candidate Selection Meeting of the Mercer

County Regular Republican Organization shall be Registered Republicans, serving as:

Voting for more than two candidates will void the entire ballot. The candidate receiving the nomination the highest total shall be declared winners and will receive the party endorsement. The results of the voting will be announced immediately after tallying the ballots on the night of the meeting. No proxy Voting is permitted.

CANDIDATESIn order to become a candidate for the Republican Party the qualifications are:

1. Resident of Mercer County or district seeking office. 2. Registered voter of Mercer County or district seeking office. 3. Registered Republican.

To be considered at the Candidate Selection Meeting a candidate must submit a resume stating his or her qualifications and his or her letter of intent to be a candidate on or before March 20, 2014.

The Convention is advisory to the County Chairman and Chairman exerts all rights.

To be acted upon, approved and/or amended at the Mercer County Republican Convention on March 24th, 2014.
