NENU L-FURNAR TRADIZZJONALICarmel Debono, magħruf aktar bħala Nenu ma’ tal-familja u mal-ħbieb, twieled fil-ħamsinijiet. Nenu ġej minn familja ta’ furnara fejn tgħallem is-sengħa ta’ furnar mingħand missieru u qraba oħra li mingħandhom ħa l-kapaċità unika li jipproduċi l-ħobża tradizzjonali Maltija, kif ukoll il-ftira distinta Maltija.

L-imħabba u l-passjoni li għandu Nenu lejn is-sengħa tiegħu ġiegħlitu jħares l-istorja u l-artiġġjanat li huwa wiret, mingħajr ma joqgħod lura milli jġedded u jtejjeb il-forn tiegħu f’Ħal Qormi. Il-viżjoni li għandu Nenu tal-kċina lokali għandha l-ikel tradizzjonali Malti bħala l-fulkru, u huwa kunfidenti li l-valur nutrizzjonali tiegħu għadu jgħodd fid-dinja sofistikata u avvanzata li ngħixu fiha llum. L-impenn ta’ Nenu biex iħares ir-riċetti u l-mod kif kienu jieklu u jsajru missirijietna fil-passat wassluh biex joħloq dik l-esperjenza ta’ ikel f’NENU THE ARTISAN BAKER - esperjenza li tiġbor fiha l-wirt tal-platti lokali, kif ukoll jagħti ġieħ lill-ikel tradizzjonali Malti msajjar f’forn antik ta’ madwar mitt sena.

NENU THE ARTISAN BAKERCarmel Debono, known as Nenu to family and friends, was born into a family of Qormi bakers in the 1950s. Nenu learned the baker’s trade from his father and other close relatives acquiring the unique skills of producing the traditional Maltese bread (Ħobża tal-Malti) and the distinctive flat bread (ftira).

Nenu’s love and passion for his trade made him safeguard his heritage and the artisan skills acquired from his peers, without shying away from introducing innovation and improvements at his bakery in Qormi. Nenu’s vision of local cuisine has traditional Maltese food at its core, being confident that its nutritional worth is still relevant in today’s advanced and sophisticated society. Nenu’s commitment towards safeguarding the recipes and the past dietary habits led him to create an eating experience at NENU THE ARTISAN BAKER that embodies the heritage of local cuisine, and unashamedly pays homage to traditional local food baked in a 100 year old oven.

NENU THE ARTISAN BAKER invites you to treat your taste buds to a wide range of ftira and dishes prepared from ingredients produced in Malta and blended to give you a unique eating experience in an ambience that captures the past in the present.

Il-lift tal-Barrakka – manifatturat u mibni mill-kumpanija Brittanika Joseph Richmond and Co Ltd. Inawgurat f’Settembru tal-1905, kien aktar minn 60 metaru għoli u jiżen 75 tunnellata.

Upper Barrakka garden lift – Constructed and erected by the British Company Joseph Richmond and Co Ltd. Inaugurated in September 1905 , was 60 meters high while it had a weight of 75 tones.
