The Georgia Health Care Association and Georgia Center for Assisted Living (GHCA/GCAL) has represented long term care providers in the state for over sixty years and currently serves skilled nursing centers, assisted living communities, and SOURCE agencies. Through lobbying efforts, informative educational seminars and operational support, GHCA/GCAL continues to strive to meet our members’ needs and the best interests of the long term care profession.

GHCA/GCAL is proud to also represent a growing base of companies that share a genuine interest with GHCA/GCAL in furthering the quality of long term and post-acute care and the success of the profession. GHCA/GCAL Associate Members support programs and services that bring improvements to long term care and help to create strategies to address a variety of issues affecting the profession including revised policies and regulations, staffing shortages, Medicare and Medicaid funding, tort reform and quality advancement.

GHCA/GCAL is committed to continuously improve the quality of life of all persons requiring post-acute care and long term health care. To achieve these goals, GHCA/GCAL provides education, conventions and networking events throughout the year to give our members the tools they need to succeed. Our members exceed national averages for overall ratings on yearly performance measurement and benchmarking satisfaction surveys and continue to cultivate leaders within their centers who demonstrate deep dedication to quality and clinical excellence.

GHCA/GCAL also works closely with government agencies and other trade and professional associations in developing, amending, and implementing, sound legislation, regulatory policies, and standards of care. GHCA/GCAL works to influence society and government to invest in the wellbeing of Georgia’s most vulnerable citizens and to increase access to care. GHCA/GCAL is committed to aiding in the development of necessary and reasonable public policies that balance economic and regulatory principles to support quality care and quality of life. GHCA/GCAL is dedicated to professionalism and ethical behavior among all who provide post-acute and long term care, thus earning the confidence and trust of Georgia’s public.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Skilled Nursing MembershipSkilled Nursing Members are licensed skilled nursing care centers in the State of Georgia. Skilled Nursing Membership in the Association requires concurrent membership in the American Health Care Association. For a skilled nursing center to be eligible for membership, all commonly owned licensed long term care centers must also be members. Assisted Living/Personal Care Home MembershipAssisted Living/PCH Members are long term centers licensed as assisted living communities, personal care facilities with 25 beds or more, or personal care facilities with less than 25 beds provided that any such facility with less than 25 beds is owned by or under common ownership with a Skilled Nursing Member and meets the requirements of GHCA.

SOURCE MembershipService Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE) Members provide a State Plan service for primary care enhanced case management that serves frail elderly and disabled beneficiaries to avoid preventable hospital and nursing home admissions. The SOURCE program builds on the state’s primary care case management program, Georgia Better Health Care Program (GBHC).

Associate MembershipGHCA Associate Members are any businesses, firms, organizations, corporations, or other groups that provide services to the long term care profession. Communities in development are eligible for Associate Membership until such time they are issued a license and meet the requirements of a Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living/PCH, or SOURCE Member.

ANNUAL DUES STRUCTURE

Skilled Nursing Membership$69 per licensed bed (includes AHCA dues of $20.60/bed & GHCA dues of $48.40/bed)

Assisted Living/PCH Membership$26 per licensed bed (includes NCAL dues of $10.50/bed & GHCA dues of $15.50/bed)

SOURCE Membership$650 - Case Load < 500$1,000 – Case Load > 500

Education & Professional DevelopmentThroughout the year, GHCA/GCAL provides education designed to help members achieve in the everchanging long term and post-acute health care landscape. In addition to trainings hosted in newly renovated training and conference rooms at GHCA/GCAL Headquarters, GHCA/GCAL hosts education throughout Georgia to enable members in all areas of the State to attend. GHCA/GCAL hosts a Winter Convention and Summer Convention each year that feature top-notch education and abundant networking opportunities.

Reimbursement, Quality & Regulatory SupportGHCA/GCAL provides the tools and assistance skilled nursing centers and other long term and post-acute care settings need to provide high quality care. Additionally, GHCA provides timely information and expert guidance to members regarding reimbursement, quality and regulatory issues impacting providers.

Workforce Development EffortsRecruitment and retention of a competent workforce is a top priority for skilled nursing and assisted living providers in Georgia. GHCA/GCAL supports members in their efforts to attract, recruit and retain skilled caregivers and provides various workforce development tools and resources designed to assist our members in those efforts.

Strategic Member CommunicationsGHCA/GCAL members benefit from strategic member communications designed to keep them informed of the latest issues of importance in long term and post-acute care. Members receive important information in real time through targeted member alerts. Additionally, GHCA/GCAL members receive the GHCA/GCAL Weekly Newsfront, a weekly publication featuring a round up of need to know information in an easy to read format, and the GHCA/GCAL Annual Report.

Media Outreach & Public Relations EffortsGHCA is steadfast in its mission to promote the positive image of skilled nursing care centers, assisted living communities and SOURCE agencies in Georgia, and works to ensure the long term care provider’s perspective is always represented. Affiliate Memberships for Center StaffGHCA/GCAL offers members an opportunity to empower their employees through affiliate group memberships. GHCA/GCAL affiliate groups offer a variety of benefits, including specialized education, networking opportunities, and access to tools and resources designed to assist in professional development.

GANLTC The Georgia Association of Nurses in Long Term Care (GANLTC) is a GHCA affiliate organization comprised of RN’s and LPN’s within GHCA nursing centers.

Membership Types & Annual Dues• GANLTC membership is open to all RN’s and LPN’s within

the nursing center. Individual annual membership dues are $20.00 and may be paid either by the individual or the center of employment.

• Associate Membership annual dues are $30.00 and are subject to board approval. Associate Members can be any RN other than those employed by a non-GHCA member facility who is interested in the objectives of this organization. They are entitled to attend all council meetings, RN and LPN workshops, annual and mid-year meetings but without voting power. Associate Members cannot hold elected office.

• Retired Membership dues are $10.00.
