Seeing Red Cars; Driving Yourself, Your Team and Your Organization to a

Positive Future.

Seeing Red CarsIt is a well-known truism that if you buy a red car, you suddenly start noticing red cars everywhere. By extension, we have a natural tendency to focus on what we don’t want to happen, rather than on what we do want to happen. To escape this workplace culture-killer, we need to look forward and focus intentionally on what we do want to happen. In Seeing Red Cars, Laura Goodrich shows you how to make the shift to affirmative thinking, shake destructive habits and achieve personal and organisational goals.

Laura Goodrich, global workforce innovator and change expert, has over 25 years of professional experience, 18 of which as an innovator, speaker, coach, and advisor to leaders worldwide. She is an expert speaker at international events and a Practice Leader in Global Workforce Innovation with the Executive Next Practices Institute. Laura’s book Seeing Red Cars: Driving Yourself, Your Team and Your Organization to a Positive Future has been described by Forbes magazine as a “must read” for leaders who want to know what it takes to accomplish positive change.

The Power of Positive Self-TalkWhen bad things happen to you, what instant thoughts go through your mind and how do you respond? It is natural to feel fed-up and rattled. However, if you allow negative thoughts to continue, it is easy to spiral downwards and things could only get worse. Verbal comments, good and bad, originated from our thoughts. These thoughts are verbalised as words, which are translated into actions. Actions repeated over and over become habits that eventually form a clear positive or negative character outcome. Learn to use positive self-talk to consciously transform negative thoughts, change our paradigm, alter our conduct, and become an influencing character that people remember!

Workshop Outline• A look at Myself • Something I would like to change • Why I do what I do • Setting positive goals • My self-talk determines my destiny • 5 Traits of a positive self-talk thinker • Getting to the source of negative thoughts • How I know it’s working

Michael P A Tan has over 25 years of experience interacting with people from front-line staff to CEOs of business corporations. He discovered that ‘successful people’ are those who often address themselves as ‘eternal optimists’, they do not allow circumstances to dictate their state of mind. Instead they are the catalyst to ‘make things happen’ and these ‘happenings’ are determined by having a positive outlook.

Understanding Our Ageing Brains and How to Power Them UpThe notion about the adult brain being fixed and that nothing could be done about its cognitive decline is outdated. The more neuroscientists learn about the brain’s decay, the more curious they have become about how effectively many older adults function. When people challenge their brains, new synapses are created. Relearn the power of the human brain – how it develops lasting memories, makes complicated plans and achieves wisdom in old age.

Dr Donald Yeo is a Clinical Neuropsychologist with a special interest in the psychological aspects of ageing and dementia. From his academic education, clinical practice, research and teaching experience in Singapore, Melbourne and Nottingham, he has acquired professional expertise in the neuropsychological evaluation of patients with neurological disorders and psychoeducational support for their family caregivers.
