PRAN gets IMS CertificatePRAN-RFL Group has become first in the country to receive IMS Certificate. The IMS Certificate recognizes the conglomerate’s achievement of ISO 14001:2004 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 certificates for its environmental management and occupational health safety, says a press release. Country Director of Bureau Veritas in Bangladesh Golam Kibria recently handed over the certificate to Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Pran-RFL Group Ahasn Khan Chowdhury. PRAN Chairman Lt. Col. (Retd) Mahtabuddin Ahmed, Corporate and Finance Director Uzma Chowdhury, Director Ilias Mridha and Manager (QMS) Rasel Kabir, among others, were also present on the occasion.

MTB opens Samson H. Chowdhury Memorial ATMMutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB) recently inaugurated Samson H. Chowdhury Memorial MTB ATM, the bank’s 150th, at Pabna, as part of its expanding network to offer superior services to the Bank’s growing client base. The naming of the ATM is in respectful memory of Samson H. Chowdhury, the Bank’s legendary late Chairman, on his 1st death anniversary. Anjan Chowdhury, Director of MTB and Managing Director, Square Consumer Products Ltd. and the legendary icon’s youngest son, inaugurated the ATM as the Chief Guest.

DBBL donates Tk. 7.0 million to construct a college buildingDutch-Bangla Bank limited(DBBL) recently donated Tk. 7.0 milion to the Organizing Committee of Sholakuri College at an event held on 5 January 2013 at the college premises under Modhupur upazilla, Tangail. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, MP, Minister of Food attended the foundation laying ceremony as chief guest while Mr. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman EC of the Board attended as special guest.

Green Delta signs MoU with Discovery Tours and LogisticGreen Delta Insurance Company Limited (GDIC) and Discovery Tours and Logistic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a ceremony held at GDIC auditorium. According to the agreement, people traveling abroad through Discovery Tours will be automatically insured and this will come as an added benefit with the package provided by Discovery for the travelers. Additional Managing Director and Group CFO of Green Delta, Farzana Chowdhury exchanged documents with Md.Zahirul Alam Bhuiyan (Roman), CEO of Discovery Tours and Logistic, after signing the MoU.

Robi organises health campsRobi Axiata Limited, the mobile phone operator, has recently launched a series of one-day health camps at different corners of the country to serve the general masses. Robi has planned to cover 26,000 people in eight districts across 260 unions through this unique campaign. The main objective of this campaign is to inspire the youth and professionals to give back

to their communities. In the health camps, health volunteers, who are senior medical students, provide health advice to the local community people on winter-related diseases and provide the required medicines. Locally assigned staff of Robi made the announcement in his/her areas to inform people about the date, time and venue of the health camps.

Managing Director of Nestle Bangladesh Limited Stephane Norde and Professor of Nutrition and Food Science, Dhaka University Dr Md Nazrul Islam Khan signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective sides in the city for conducting 'Nestle Healthy Kids Programme' as a part of 'Nestle Healthy Kids' Global Programme. The training module, jointly prepared by Nestle Bangladesh and Dr Md Nazrul Islam Khan, will be conducted in 25 schools of Gazipur district to cover 3,000 students in 2013. Corporate Affairs Director of Nestle Bangladesh Naquib Khan and Senior Manager (Corporate Affairs and Communication) Mirza Golam Hossain attended the MoU signing ceremony.

Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) donated 1200 blankets for the poor and old people of Trishal Upazila, Mymensingh District and Sreepur Uazila, Gazipur District on December 31, 2012. EBL Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Internal Control & Compliance Mr. Akhtar Kamal Talukder, Head of Ops Risk, SD, ICCD M A Awal and Admin Officer Md. Asaduzzaman distributed the blankets on behalf of EBL with the help of Trishal Upazilla Administration.

BRAC Bank introduces automated Queue Management System BRAC Bank has introduced automated Queue Management System at branch network for smooth and faster delivery of services to the customers. It is an automated system with state-of-the-art touch screen kiosk and visual displays that will inform and guide customers about all services available in the branch. The new system will save valuable time of the customers as it will reduce waiting time in queue. The system ensures separate queue for different banking services -- Bearer and A/C Holders, remittance, IPO and tuition fees deposit and prioritizes services for premium, supreme and corporate customers. It will facilitate floor manager to distribute service requests from one desk to another as per situation. Dr. Hafiz G. A.
