Melbourne Andre Rieu Music Tour 12 ~ 19 NOVEMBER 2018

We travel to stylish, arty Melbourne and include five great musical experiences: Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra at the Rod Laver Arena, our chance to see him in a full arena concert, plus Opera Australia’s La Boheme, and the fun musical produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber School of Rock. We also present two of our own concerts, Music Be the Food of Love, and A Champagne Affair presented by Sue and special guests.We include 7 nights of luxury at the Melbourne Langham so join us in a city that is both dynamic and cosmopolitan, and proud of its place as Australia’s cultural capital.

Monday 12 November 2018 (L, D) This morning we fly to Melbourne and transfer to Lygon St for lunch at Brunetti’s and a chance to wander. We then check into the luxurious Langham Hotel, our home for the next seven nights.

Tonight we enjoy a buffet dinner at the hotel with music, entitled Music Be the Food of Love.

Tuesday 13 November 2018 (B, High tea)After breakfast at the hotel, we enjoy a half day tour of Melbourne which will include Flinders Station, Melbourne Cricket Ground, National Tennis Centre, St Paul’s Cathedral, Queen Victoria Market and Chinatown, before proceeding to the iconic Windsor Hotel for high tea.

Then it’s free time this evening.

Wednesday 14 November 2018 (B, D) Today is a full day off to explore Melbourne and go shopping!

Tonight is the first of our great performances presented by Opera Australia La Boheme, Puccini’s poignant, magnificently melodic opera. Preceding this we will enjoy a shared Italian dinner.

Thursday 15 November 2018 (B, L) First it’s off to the National Rhododendron Gardens filled with an abundance of colour in Springtime! Then we enjoy an iconic train trip on the famous Puffing Billy, through the beautiful Dandenong Ranges whilst partaking of a gourmet lunch.

Tonight we enjoy the second of our shows: School of Rock, a heart warming story about a teacher’s aim to inspire his pupils to join a rock band and learn how music can change their lives.

Friday 16 November 2018 (B, L) Today we explore the Yarra Valley with visits to Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery, a place to indulge our love of chocolate plus vineyard visits to Victoria’s first vineyard, Yering Station and Rochford Vineyard.

This evening is at leisure to meet friends or enjoy one of the many restaurants close to our hotel.

Saturday 17 November 2018 (B, High tea)Today there is a chance to catch your breath as we have some free time to enjoy the Saturday markets and shops.

Then we will meet late afternoon to enjoy a Champagne High Tea at our hotel before we transfer to the highlight of our trip Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra at the Rod Laver Arena.

Sunday 18 November 2018 (B, D) This morning we travel to two historic houses, firstly Como House and Gardens, boasting one of Melbourne’s finest gardens, and historic mansion. Then it’s on to Rippon Lea, the historic mansion set on more than 14 acres and featuring a windmill, lookout tower, heritage orchard, lake, waterfall, fernery and more.

This evening we enjoy a final gala evening with dinner, entitled A Champagne Affair. Music is presented by Sue and special guests in a sumptuous, elegant evening, a fitting way to toast our sumptuous week of music, history and great times!
