FLASH Family Life and Sexual Health Training for Educators About FLASH This workshop will introduce Health educators to FLASH (Family Life and Sexual Health) which addresses such issues as physical development, promotion of sexual health, prevention of disease, affection, interpersonal relationships, body images and gender roles. FLASH training is for Elementary, Middle and High School including Special Education. The lessons are age appropriate and embraces an abstinence-based approach, as well as information related to the prevention of pregnancy, HIV and STI’s and rests on a foundation of positive and healthy sexuality across the life span and ensures discussion about the wide spectrum of beliefs on sensitive issues. FLASH promotes family involvement. Anduwyn Williams Anduwyn received her BA in Psychology from Lee University. She has always been passionate about reproductive justice which has followed her through ten years of work ranging from domestic violence prevention and support to mental health counseling. Anduwyn came to WV FREE from WV Department of Health and Human Resource’s Oce of Maternal, Child and Family Health Program’s Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative as an adolescent pregnancy prevention specialist. At WV FREE, Anduwyn leads our unintended pregnancy referrals training as well as trains on a variety of sexual heath topics. Selina Vickers, MA, LSW Selina received her MA in Counseling from Marshall University and is a licensed social worker. She is currently the Adolescent Health Initiative Coordinator for RESA I and works to increase youth access to health services and information, reduce bullying and increase youth wellness activities. Selina believes that youth of all ages should have access to information to help them avoid abusive relationships and develop healthy relationships throughout their lives. I am better prepared for teaching this subject.

I know how to stay neutral when values are discussed.

The best part of this training was the fact that special education was not left out!

I just started teaching. This helped me be more comfortable and confident on teaching this information.

I plan to talk more openly about forming heathy relationships.

I love that this isn’t just sex. It’s about family, accurate information, respect, healthy choices and developing a lifetime of healthy relationships.
