School Rules & Procedures Punctuality

Pupils are to be in school by 7.20 a.m.

Permission to leave earlierFor the safety of pupils, parents are to sign out for their child at the General Office if they need to take their child home during school hours.

Updating of particularsKeep the school updated of parents’ contact numbers, email addresses and house addresses

ThermometersPupils are to have a working thermometer with them in school for temperature taking exercises and for use when they are feeling unwell.

School Rules & Procedures Procedures for visitors to school

• For the safety of pupils, all visitors/parents/guardians who enter the school compound (for example: to speak with teachers briefly before school starts at 7.20 a.m., to fetch a sick child, to collect documents from the General Office, etc.) are required to first obtain a visitor pass from the security guard before proceeding to the General Office.

• Visitors/parents/guardians are not allowed to proceed to any part of the school building without a visitor’s pass that is issued by the General Office.

• Refer to Page 24 – 26 of the pupil’s diary for matters pertaining to school safety and security.

School Rules & Procedures Parent Feedback Form

• The parent feedback form is used in the initial stages of the referral system for discipline cases for the school to collaborate with the parents to prevent recalcitrant behaviours.

• Refer to Page 33 – 34 of the pupil’s diary for details of the referral system for discipline cases.

School Rules & Procedures Absence from school / excuse from PE

Produce a medical certificate or a letter of excuse if your child is absent from school or needs to be excused from Physical Education (PE) lessons.

School Rules & Procedures Absence during an examination

A pupil who is absent from any examination paper is required to submit a medical certificate to the form teacher when he returns to school. He will not sit for that paper which he has missed. His marks will be pro-rated.

Letters of excuse from parents will not be accepted as sufficient cause for being absent from an examination except under special circumstances, for example, bereavement. The school will review such situations on an individual basis.

If a pupil is not able to produce a medical certificate or to be excused due to a valid reason, he will be considered to have been absent from the examination. He will be given zero marks and his marks will not be pro-rated.

Attire Pupils are required to wear their school ties

every morning for morning assembly. They can remove their school ties when morning assembly is over.

Pupils are allowed to put on their PE attire the entire day on PE days only.

On CCA days, pupils are to bring their change of CCA attire.

On House Practice days, pupils are allowed to put on their house t-shirts the entire day.

Check pupil’s diary daily To be submitted the next school day unless specified

Parent’s acknowledgement on forms, test papers, exam papers and work assignments (e.g. worksheets, workbooks, etc.)

Packing of school bag according to the class timetable

For the safety of pupils, they are strongly advised to use only rounded-edge scissors and keep them in the pencil case when not in use.

Programmes & Activities Learning Journey

Pupils will be going for learning journey to the zoo in Term 1 (17 February, Wed) during curriculum hours.

Pupils will be going for Mother Tongue learning journey in Term 2 during curriculum hours.

Ethics and Catechism Programmes@ St Stephen’s School At St Stephen’s School, the Ethics Programme and the Catechism Programme are offered as part of the school curriculum in support of the holistic development of our pupils.

Please note that pupil placement in the above mentioned programmes is according to the option selected by parents when the child was first enrolled in the school as indicated in the Individual Student Details (ISD) Form, unless advised otherwise by parents.

Gifted Education Programme(GEP)

The GEP seeks to provide opportunities for the intellectual gifted to develop their potential in an educational environment that is designed to stimulate intellectual growth.

Pupils for GEP are selected through two rounds of tests:- the Screening Test (1st round)- the Selection Test (2nd round)

The GEP Screening Test and the GEP Selection Test will be based on the Primary 1 to Primary 3 English Language and Mathematics syllabuses.

The Screening Test is open to all Primary 3 pupils. It is not compulsory.

Gifted Education Programme(GEP)

GEP notification letter to parents has been issued.

MOE will issue details of the GEP tests in August.

The Screening Test (1st round) for all Primary 3 pupils will be conducted in August within the school.

The Selection Test (2nd round) for shortlisted Primary 3 pupils will be conducted in October.
