New Club Rewards System

Mick Mitchell, Alan Tighe Snr, Alan Tighe Jnr and Phil W Morris.

Members may have noticed new technology being installed around the club, with this new technology comes a new Club Rewards Programme. Now every time a member makes a purchase at any outlet within the Club, that member receives 1 point for every Dollar spent, this is now added to your members card and can be redeemed at any of the club’s outlets. The Paper vouchers can still be used to purchase Raffle Tickets, Market Day Tickets and Pay for Green Fees, and are still being accepted by selected retail-ers throughout the town. However, now if you receive a voucher, you can take that voucher to recep-tion, and have that value placed on your members card, and so continue to make purchases within the Club, the advantage of this new system is that you only deduct that purchase price from the voucher not the whole amount as in the past. Additionally, you now have the option of putting cash on your members card to make your purchases at the club totally cashless, simply use the members card as you would for making an eftpos transaction. As you will see members and Guests now have a pay wave system eftpos transaction facility available at each and every one of the clubs outlets. The Daily members draws now have the prizes automatically allocated to their cards. Promotions such as the current Audio Visual System on display in the Foyer, use the card to automatically produce an entry ticket after every $10 accumulat-ed spend at the Bar, Coffee Shop, Restaurant and Bottle shop, simply place your automatically generated entry ticket in the Barrel in the foyer. The Loyalty Program for the Gaming Machines (Pokies), remains unchanged you can still amass points which you can redeem for vouchers. This new system may take a small amount adjustment from the way things were done in the past, but long term this will benefit all members more so than the previous system.

Play the fast-paced BPL format as seen on television ...and win an expenses-

paid trip to the BPL Cup National Finals, played at Queensland's Club Pine Rivers. The BPL Cup National Finals will be played alongside BPL08. Finalists will get to play on the TV rink and meet the stars of the BPL. Over the past five years, Bowls Australia has successfully staged six Bowls Premier League (BPL) events. In 2014, Bowls Austral-ia also launched a new national partici-pation initiative, Jack Attack, which is played at over 190 venues. The BPL Cup marries the two products together to strengthen the correlation between the bowls that viewers see on television and the format of bowls of-fered at Clubs. The BPL Cup provides an opportunity for Club based teams to progress through various rounds to National Finals, to be played in parallel with the BPL08 competition (at Club Pine Riv-ers, Queensland) in mid-November 2018. The format is two-bowl triples and will follow the similar rules as the BPL and Jack Attack competi-tions. Matches consist of two sets of five ends with a one-end tie breaker (if required). Teams can register up to four players but only three players can play at any one time (substitutes during matches are allowed). All players in each team are to be affiliated with the same Club. Teams can enter in more than one event (and with different play-ers from the same Cub). The entry fee is $60 per team (of up to 4 players), collected at the time of entry. PRIZES FOR STATE/TERRITORY WINNERS

For three team members... - Return airfares to Brisbane

- Hire cars provided for transfers

- Four nights' accommodation

- Reserved seats and hospitality for BPL Cup players to watch televised BPL matches

- Free supporter gear for an adopted BPL team

- For the BPL Semi-Finals and Finals, the matches will be played on the TV rink used for the BPL TV matches. These matches will also be live

Over the past month the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club has hosted some the Lightning Ridge Central School primary students, for mornings of Lawn Bowls. In excess of 50 students each week have received instruction in the fundamentals of Lawn Bowls, from your Bowls Co-ordinator Andrew Doggett. The students have had a great time learning the game and enjoying the basics of bowls in a modified format. The school is impressed with how well the students have responded to the program and hope to continue this well into the future. It is foreseen that at the end of the school year the Club will host these stu-dents in a day of competition and fun. As the students progress in the sport, they will be-come the foundation of the Lightning Ridge Junior Bowling Academy, which offers after school instruction and training, developing their skills to a competitive level, in a fun, friendly and safe environment. Many of these students already show promise in the sport and have expressed a desire to join the Academy, if they have not already done so. High School students have not been left out, they have also enjoyed tuition in the game on Friday afternoons as part of their

Physical Education, Health and Personal Development curriculum. Some students may develop into aspiring bowlers, repre-senting our club and who knows there may be future champions amongst them that rep-resent their state or dare I say it their coun-try. Lawn Bowls is social and enjoyable, and involves having fun with other people on a regular basis, as well as keeping fit. Lawn Bowls facilitates long lasting friendships and is a low impact sport with therapeutic, physi-cal and mental health benefits. The game offers a friendly environment for a commu-nity of varying physical ability and the chance to compete in an integrated participa-tion platform. The Lightning Ridge Junior Bowling Acade-my offers a 3 Tier age specific program that encourages and educates in a fun and friend-ly format. Tier 1 for ages of 5 to 9 years

Tier 2 for ages of 10 to 13 years Tier 3 for ages of 14 to 17 years Lawn Bowls does not discriminate, all sexes play on equal terms, it is not a game based on strength, but skill, the greater the skills of an individual the more competitive and en-joyable the game becomes. Anyone can learn the skills, it only takes time to Master.

Lawn Bowls has variety of games activi-ties and formats available to all ages and all skill levels. All activities are designed to be fun as well as providing skills to assist the developing player. Eventually the Junior Bowls Academy students will compete against other clubs, and academies throughout the region even the State. There are specific competitions throughout the State and Australia de-signed exclusively for Junior Bowlers it is the intention of the Academy to send students to these competitions and eventu-ally host some major events just for the Juniors.

For more information on the Junior Bowl-ing Academy contact Andrew Doggett at the Club. Applications and Information Flyers are available at Club Reception. The Junior Bowling Academy is actively seeking sponsorship to cover costs of Competition Shirts interested parties should also contact the Club.
