unprotected from Colombia and the Third World

countries. As World Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF,

has raised its voice for them.

With support from the Ministry of Education and the

Colombian Family Welfare Institute, the Foundation

develops consistently in the Atlantic, Pacific and

Midwest a scholarship program and nutritional

education for children who are outside the education

system or risk of dropping out and for the children of

families displaced by violence.

BEAR

An animal in danger of

extinction because of humans,

with their air pollution.

Appearance: The polar bear

is white because of their fur,

since skin color is very dark,

the polar bears the largest

carnivorous mammal in the

world. It has an elongated

profile, and more developed

legs, ears and tail are very

small.

HABITAT

They live in the Arctic, where

temperatures are low, the water is

cold, and are able to move through

thick layers of ice. They survive in

very isolated from humans

POPULATION

Biologists use a working estimate of

about 20,000 to 25,000 polar bears

worldwide.

FOOD

The polar bear eats all animals

except arctic foxes and wolves. He

likes the baby seal sand reindeer and

come to eat about 30 kilos of food a

day, and the puppies 1 kilo.

ABILITIES

The polar bear is an animal agile on

land and in water. It can swim at a

speed of 10km / hour and can even

sleep in the water. It’s able to climb

icy areas of difficult access.

REASON WHY IT IS IN DANGER

Each year is bigger the percentage of

reduction of ice in the Arctic, polar

bear habitat. If you continue to melt

the ice polar bears will disappear

with in 75 years. Some scientists

predict that by the summer of 2013

in the Arctic will have melted and

most of the ice sheets.
