2006 Pierre de Montignac Medoc, Bordeaux, France www.quigleyfinewines.com ~Tasting Notes~ Color: Deep, dark, ruby. Nearly opaque. Aromas: Solid core of dark cherry and currant with dusty, earthy background notes. Flavors: Classic left bank with dried currants and black cherry complimented by charred oak and rich soil. Full bodied, yet elegant with excellent structure. An approachable Bordeaux that will drink now thru 2016. Food Pairing: Try serving this with a grilled rack of lamb with a rosemary and garlic rub. THE WINE: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon / 50% Merlot 1500 cases total production. Very low yields and sustainable agricultural practices. THE Estate: Small, single vineyard property from the left-bank commune of Medoc. The Sallette family are the owners, managers and winemakers and are a member of the Independent Vignerons of France. They have been diligently working to acquire the Cru Bourgeois status which was granted in 2008.
