PROGRAM INFORMATIONThe Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery Acute Care Surgery: Trauma, Critical Care, and Emergency General Surgery Symposium will be held Friday, April 28, 2017, in the Aaron Room at Miller Park, One Brewers Way, Milwaukee.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis symposium will be beneficial to:

• General Surgeons • Trauma Surgeons• Nurses and Health Care Professionals • APPs

PURPOSEThis day-long educational activity is designed to provide updates and general information regarding the practice of emergency general surgery, surgical critical care, and trauma care. The intended audience is practicing general surgeons who would like to improve their knowledge and skills in caring for the acutely ill surgical patient.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Given a patient presenting with multiple injuries, describe the appropriate evaluation and management of suspected cervical spine injury.

• Given a patient with suspected small bowel injury, describe the recommended radiographic studies to order and non-operative management.

• Given a patient with multiple injuries and pain, describe the recommended options for optimal pain management.

EDUCATIONAL METHODInstructional techniques will include didactic lectures, small group discussions, expert panel discussions, and case based discussions. Learners will have an opportunity to interact with faculty and ask questions relevant to their own practice and learning needs.

ACCME ACCREDITATION STATEMENTThe Medical College of Wisconsin is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AARON ROOM AT MILLER PARKEnter the stadium through the Hot Corner doors on the north-east side (to the left from the parking lots) of the stadium under the vertical “Friday’s” sign. The Brewers Conference Center rooms are accessed by using the elevators in the Hot Corner across from the Team Store and Friday’s Restaurant. Further direction to the Aaron Room is located in the elevators. ACCOMMODATIONS Hotel Metro A block of rooms will be reserved for registrants until March 21 at a special rate of $149 single, plus tax, per night.
