Al Khor Community Medical Centre (AKCMC) offers free, comprehensive medical and dental care to the community. In addition to treating employees and their families, health care indicators are monitored to development preventative strategies to maintain an active, healthy community, and a productive workforce.

The Al-Khor Community Medical Centre is a state of the art, purpose built, fully computerized Health Centre. It is a joint venture between RasGas and Qatargas and was opened in June 2002.The Al-Khor Community Medical Clinic has been accredited by the Joint Commission International and the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (Ireland). It is staffed with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, of various nationalities, to reflect the diverse multicultural mix within the Community. Arabic, English, Hindi Urdu, Malayalam, Tagalog, Javanese, Acehnese, Gujarati, Tamil and Indonesian languages are spoken.It is our philosophy to provide confidential and comprehensive medical, dental and nursing care to the residents of Al-Khor Community and meet their health requirements in an efficient, professional and respectful manner. Our key objective is to provide an optimal level of primary care and to continue to develop our services to meet the needs of a growing community. It is also our philosophy to encourage and maintain a healthy lifestyle.The Medical Centre therefore acts as a focus for health education, prevention and promotion. What do I do if I need to see a dentist?The dental and hygienist services always require an appointment. Priorities are given to RasGas and Qatar Gas employees.

If you have dental appointment, please arrive early to register at the dental reception situated in the dental department and collect you queuing number and wait for the assigned clinic/room to call your number. It is important that you arrive at the clinic on or before your appointment time.

The clinic is staffed by four full time dentists covering two shifts. There are also two hygienists and trained dental assistants. There are six dental suites in Al-Khor Community Medical Centre.

Dental services are for RasGas and Qatargas employees and their eligible dependents only. Contractors and third parties are not eligible to use the dental services. Essential dental services are provided in line with the companies HR Policy, Procedures and Guidelines.

The emergency dental services operate on a first come first served basis however; employees will always have priority for these services and will be seen before non-employees. The emergency services should not be abused or used to bring forward scheduled appointment. The following are catagorised as emergency conditions:

1. Fractured jaw or fractured teeth after trauma

2. Uncontrolled bleeding 3. Severe dental pain due to exposed

A doctor’s walk in clinic for urgent cases will also be available on Saturdays from 8.00am to 12.00pm. There is no blood sampling or issue of certificates performed on this day. Last time for registration is 11.30 am, however in the case of an emergency patients will be seen up to 12.00 pm.

A mandatory medical staff meeting is scheduled on Thursdays from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. All clinical staff attend, however in the case of emergencies staff will be available.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I ARRIVE AT THE CLINIC?

Children must always be accompanied by an adult and will not be seen by any medical or dental staff without a parent/guardian or teacher present.

There is a strict policy of no drinking or eating in the clinic. Please respect this rule, as it is important to keep the clinic clean.

All medical and dental information at the Al-Khor Community Medical Centre is computerized and kept confidential.

For each subsequent visit, you must register at front desk. You will then be given an assigned queuing number. Patients should take a seat in the waiting area until your number is called on the screen.

Inside the assessment room a nurse will carry out a preliminary assessment to assist with patient management.

Once these details have been provided, please keep your queuing number and wait for the assigned doctor to call your number on the screen.

Please always register at reception.

If this is your first visit your eligibility will be confirmed based on company’s Human Resources register.

In addition you will be required to provide all/some of the following information:

We recommend that all newly registered adults make one initial appointment with this clinic. Further appointments are advised depending on age and individual risk. AKCMC recommends that all adults under the age of 40 years have at least one health check up every 5 years.

A detailed history and examination will be carried out where your height, weight and blood pressure is measured followed by a clinical check by the doctor.

The doctor may order additional tests such as an ECG, body stats, and checks for hearing; vision and lung function as well as some blood investigations. Healthy adults may not need any tests at all!

Do keep your follow up appointments to discuss test results and management plans with the doctor to complete your checkup.
