GISCThe GISC project (Gestione Integrata Scompenso Cardiaco - Integrated Management of Heart Failure)

concernsthemanagementofpatientswithheartfailureconditions.Thegoalistofollowthepatientinthe

post-emergencymanagementafterdischargefromhospital.

It isanexpertsystembasedonstatisticaldataanddatawarehousesystemthatallowamonitoringofthe

patientandabletosharedatabetweenmedicalequipeinordertohaveaquickreactiontotheparameter

changes.

SMARTPOOLThe project Smart Pool aims to provide a hardware/software infrastructure able to provide the end

customerwithaninterfaceappforsmartphonesandtabletsabletoaccomplish:

• Remote control of the devices included with the pool system, such as pool interior and edge,

heating,pumpandotheraccessories.

• Remotemonitoringofparametersviasensorsfortemperature,pH,chlorine,andtheoccurrenceof

The solutions developed by MediaSoft within the smart cities are varied in nature and relate to the

monitoring of the surrounding environment. MediaSoft is not limited to the software solution, but has

designed and implemented the necessary hardware prototypes using skills gainedwithin the electronics

REMOTEMONITORINGOFHIGHRISKAREASThe project integrates an automatic smoke and fire

detection,orofotherphenomena(naturalorintentional),

capable of endangering the environment. Itwill be useful in areas particularly subject to this risk, using

land-monitoring functions based on Augmented Reality tools with low-cost collaborative control. The

system consists of a control and administration center, one or more data acquisition points, and

surveillanceinstalledinthezonestobecontrolled..

ofpollutantsfrompublictransport.

TheplatformisaKIT:

• Hardware:asimplelow-costboardequippedwithsensorsandisinstalledonthefleetofmunicipal

publictransport. Itdetectsthereal-timemeasurements,sampling, instantby instant,everyroute

thatisfollowedbythemedia.

• Software:asocialplatformthatcollects themeasurements throughout the territorymakes them

visibleandavailabletothecitizensinamultimodalmode(ex.ondifferentlayersofaGISsystem,

throughaugmentedrealitychannels,inStreetViewmode,etc.)andmultichannel(usingallmodern

technologicaldevices,especiallysmartphones,tablets,iWatch).).

DRONEPROJECTMediaSoft has designed and created both the hardware platform and the software platformof a drone

with 8 propellers. It is able to detect, analyze and diagnose the structural integrity of bridges, viaducts,

tunnels etc. The drone is equipped with high-definition sensors (stereo HD camera, infrared camera,

infraredcamera)andagroundstationthatreceivesthevideostreamandthedatainreal-timetelemetry.

RIELLOThe project Riello was developed, with a partnership with Edulife, for the company Riello, a known

manufacturerofboilers.Theobjectiveistwofold:ontheonehanditsupportstherepairmaninthedifficult

taskof identifyingtheproblemandsolvingit;ontheotherhandprovidesausefultoolforthetrainingof

maintenance personnel. Using the mobile device (tablet or smartphone), the augmented reality app

providesthemaintenanceinformationfortherepairoftheboilerintheoperationalphase.Theappitselfis

alsoused for trainingpurposes inorder toprovide teachingmaterialusefulanddirectlyassociatedwith,

againthroughtheapp,thevariouscomponentsoftheboiler.

VIRTUALREALITYThe Virtual Reality applications generate a three-dimensional environment in which the subject or the

subjectsinteractwitheachotherandwiththeenvironmentasiftheywereactuallythere.

Virtual reality can be considered an "experiential", in which the

perceptual component (visual, tactile, kinesthetic) merges with

reality.Thereareseveralfieldsofapplicationforsimulationtools,

fromvirtualreality(flight,drivingetc.)tousefultoolsinmedicine,

surgicalsimulations,andsoon.

Creating a virtual reality application means that you create 3D

environmentsinwhichtheusercaninteractandhandlehardware

tools (visiongoggles, glovesetc.) that represent the instrumentof interactionbetween theuserand the

virtualreality.

MediaSoft has acquired a strong expertise in the field of virtual reality by creating applications that use

wearable tools such as theOculus Rift and allow the user to enter virtually in aworld. The experiences

SIMULATIONOFMINEREMOVAL

Aspartofaprojectcarriedout incollaborationwithan Italiancompanyoperating in themilitary (SSI),a

simulationenginewasbuilttosimulatethepresenceofseveralrobotsonaminefield.Therobots,rendered

in3D,hadtobeabletodetectthepresenceofthreats(suchasanti-personnelminesorobstacles).Aspart

ofthevirtualenvironment(thedetailsofwhichwillbebetterclarifiedinthenextsection)youcaninteract

notonly through the terminal,butalso throughavirtualhelmetwornby theuser.Thisway thehelmet,

respondingtotheuser'smovements,wasabletoshowtheuseracoherentworldviewwithitsmovement.

COLLABORATIVEVIRTUALENVIRONMENT ACVEisacomputer-based,distributed,3Dvirtualspaceorsetofplacesthatsupportcollaborativework

andsocialplay.Insuchaplacepeopleareprovidedwithgraphicalembodimentscalledavatarsthatconvey

their identity, presence, and location. They can meet and

interactwithothersorwithvirtualobjects.

MediaSofthasdecadesofexperienceinthefieldofCVE,both

from the technological point of view and from the point of

viewofscientificresearch.

The focus of technology and researchwas in a collaboration

studio and understood as the ability to simulate the

simultaneous presence of peoplewithin the same virtual. The peoplewere represented by avatars and

physicallylocatedindifferentpartsoftheworld.TheexperiencesofMediaSoftinthisarearangefromthe

educationalenvironment,toprofessionalandrecreational.

Numerousvirtual collaborativeenvironmentshavebeendesignedanddevelopedbyMediaSoft staffand

used,forexample,inschoolstostimulatelearningthrougheducationalgames.

In order to design and develop a Collaborative Virtual Environment,MediaSoft used skills ranging from

technical skills related to the use of 3D engines needed to rebuild the virtual environment, as well as

sociological targeted skills to study the possible interactions between different avatars. To these are

added those skills necessary to understand the dynamics of cooperation between the partners

involved in the virtual world, both recreational (such as collaborative games) and otherwise (for

example strategy games)

WebTalk3 is a3D collaborativeenvironment that consistofmetaphorsused ina collaborative learning

environment. Students, physically located in geographically distant classes, collaboratewithin the virtual

environment,eachwiththeirownavatar,andwillhaveaccesstothecollaborativechat.Thecollaboration

isaimedtosolvepuzzlesproposedwithinthevirtualenvironment. Itcreatesarealcompetitionalltaking

placeinavirtualenvironment.

SIMULATEDMINEREMOVALAspartofaprojectcarriedoutincollaborationwithanItaliancompanyoperatinginthemilitary(SSI),there

wasthecreationofasimulationenginethatcansimulatetherobotbehaviorinaminefieldinwhichwhere

threats an obstacles. The Collaborative Virtual Environment reproduced the minefield in 3D that the

company had really built in its labs and it was possible, from the system, to decide the ranking of the

threats(whichcouldbemines,obstacles,etc.).Therobotspresentwithinthevirtualenvironmentactedvia

a function of signals (position, velocity, displacement, etc.) sent from the robot actually present on the

minefield. These signals were collected by the system and propagated as a function defined by the

customers specific strategies. The actually existing robot in theminefield could add virtual robot which

increased,aswell,thetotalnumberofrobotspresentinthesimulationandthusallowedittoevaluatethe

definedswarmstrategies.

AbstractCollaboration systems are a key point in modern Information Systems. They are very useful whencompanies base their work on “knowledge”. Collaboration systems help knowledge workers to shareknowledgeand towork together regardlessofwhere theyare located. Thereare several solutions fromturnkeysolutions,toad-hoc,aswellascustomizablesolutions.Collaborationsystemscanbeclassifiedassocialsoftwareandonlinecollaborationtools,andtheyareusefulbothforbigandsmalltomediumsizedcompanies.
