This is the 1st screen shot, it establishes the location and also the title is shown; the font we chose foreshadows the genre of the film due to its cracked features. The shot also establishes the social group; a young white male. The wide shot also establishes the idea of someone returning from a journey hence the train station in the background. The duffle bag is an association of concealing something.

This next shot was chosen to show the change of location from exterior to interior. The character enters a suburban house suggesting his social class. The audience have still not been introduced to the protagonist, creating a sense of apprehension and confusion.

This shot was inspired by the shower scene from “Psycho”. The use of fake blood gives the audience a sense of what may lie ahead, creating ideas and thoughts in their heads. Blood is convention of the crime genre. The music used in this entire sequence challenges the usual conventions of the genre.

The audience in this shot are shown the protagonists face and the emotions he is feeling, through the use of a low angle shot; this may make the audience feel inferior as they are being looked down upon.

This medium shot shows a prop which may intimidate the audience as an illegal weapon is present. The camera angle is effective as we see his reflection as if someone is spying/watching him. The crime/thrller genre is re-established.

This close up helps to emphasize the importance of the letter; another prop. It gives the audience another piece of information.

The bathtub scene was derived from the movie “Slumdog Millionaire”. The use of the props in this scene heightens the sensation of anticipation and possibly fear. The audience will expect some sort of violence to occur due to the knife.

The next shot is a close up of money, after the audience has seen the knife they may believe that the money is blood money. The typography of the credits are bold and clear so it is easy to read but also the colour orange is fiery and associated with danger.
