Cookham Butchers

We, as a group, wanted to film the opening scene at the Cookham Butchers shop in Berkshire. The idea is having

every shot in black and white to create an eery atmosphere. Cookham butchers is local to our school and has a very

unique feel to it as it looks very creepy in black and white. The opening will start with a closeup of a man cutting meat with a square knife and in the background, the diegetic sound of a radio announcing a murder. An old man will leave the shop carrying a red bag which is the only item in the whole of the

opening scene that is in colour. The man will walk to the railway station where he will get on a train to London

Paddington. In the train there will be a variety of closeups of the bag to signify its importance to the development of the

opening sequence.

London Paddington

Another location where we intend to film is London Paddington Station where the train from Cookham will arrive. The whole

concept of the opening to our film is that the audience never see the bag being swapped from person to person. This is effective as it creates suspicion as to why so many different

people are carrying this one bag. This concept will also engage our audience as it will build anticipation because they are to trying to link the beginning scene of the cutting of meat

with the bag being passed around London. What we want from these shots is for a different man to step off the train carrying the bag to travel with it on the Bakerloo line. The old man who

started carrying the bag at the beginning is no where to be seen. We chose Paddington as a location because it is easy to

access via train and is a main hotspot for travellers

Conduit Street

One of our ideas for street locations is Conduit street located near Oxford Circus. Oxford Circus is on the Bakerloo line from

Paddington and so we thought as a group, Conduit street would be a convenient place to film. My father’s office is also located on Conduit street and we have this office as a location to film if we want to have an office scene. Tumi (left) is a bag shop located just around the corner from Conduit street. We thought that a

person carrying the bag could walk into this shop to meet another courier who would walk out of the shop. This is was an idea that developed when we visited London and is yet to be

finalised.

Another street in which we plan to film on is Carnaby Street. Carnaby Street is very near to Conduit street

and this would be easy to get to. This street is renowned for its shops and attracts many tourists in

London. We would like to include this street in our film opening due to its location and popularity.

Carnaby Street

Piccadilly Circus

We decided that Piccadilly Circus would be a good place to film as it is well-known and is easily

accessible. The low angle shot and the over the shoulder shot of Zach are the types of shot we aim to use when filming in Piccadilly Circus. The black and

white filter looks very effective especially with the low-angle shot as it creates a very cold, dark

atmosphere that could possibly depict the courier’s sinister attributes

Public Telephone box - Outside Trafalgar square

When travelling in London, my group and I came across a telephone box on the outskirts of Trafalgar square. We would like one of the courier’s to place the bag outside the telephone box and go inside to

make a call. Whilst on the phone, an individual walks behind the box and the scene cuts to a

person carrying the bag to Trafalgar square. This idea is very effective as it helps to continuously

build mystery and anticipation

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar square is another location for our filming of our main task. It is an iconic location in London and one where we are keen to film in. When the bag reaches Trafalgar, we would like

the person carrying the bag to enter the art gallery with someone else walking out of it. The exchange is still mysterious

Waterloo Station

Waterloo Station is where we would like to film the majority of our underground scenes. Waterloo Station is very

contemporary and has an interesting design and so this compelled us into wanting to film in this underground station.

We intend to film shots of the tube doors opening and the courier walking onto the tube.
