READERSHIP
ADVERTORIALS
What are Advertorials?
When you want to make news with your business, consider an
advertorial. By combining the guaranteed placement of an ad
with the more news-oriented approach of editorial copy, we
can help you promote your business, your products and your
services in a new way.
This is your chance to tell Frederick Magazine’s readers
more about your business and what makes it different from all
the rest. Perhaps you want to include some of the credentials
of the people who work with you, or specific information
about where your products come from; or maybe you just
want readers to get to know you more on a personal level—
what drives you, what you enjoy doing when you’re away from
work, or perhaps the community organizations you support
with your time, talents and resources.
Let one of our professional writers craft a “behind the
scenes” look at you and your business so you can let people
know what sets you apart—and makes you stand out.
How it Works• One of our professional writers will contact you to set up aphone interview.
• Based on those aspects of your business which you chooseto promote through the interview, the writer will draft a 300to 315 word advertorial. You will have ample time in which toreview the copy and make any appropriate changes.
• You will also be contacted by one of our photographers, whowill schedule a time to come out and photograph you oryour products (and your staff) at your business. Our artdirector will choose the final photograph that will appear inthe advertorial.
• The photograph and editorial copy will be laid out by one ofour graphic artists and you will be given a final proof toapprove.
Don’t miss this chance to tell your story, your way.
What You Get:
• A professional writer to craft acustomized editorial pieceabout you.
• A professional photographerto come to your location for aprofessional photo.
• A full-page, full-color ad thatlooks and reads like editorialcontent.

T he American Cancer Societyestimates that nearly one millionpeople will be diagnosed withcolorectal cancer in 2017. In fact, colorectalcancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women in the UnitedStates and the second leading cause in men.
Colorectal cancer includes cancers arising inthe colon or rectum, but this fairly commoncancer is not as deadly as it was severaldecades ago.
Regular colorectal screening is oneimportant reason why people are survivingcolon cancer, but cutting-edge treatment isanother factor. Hemant Chatrath, M.D., aboard certified gastroenterologist with Meritus
Digestive Health Specialists, gives tristateresidents an effective defense against a coloncancer diagnosis.
Working inside-outDr. Chatrath uses a newer treatment calledendoscopic mucosal resection or EMR to treat early-stage colon cancer, slow-growing
cancerous and non-cancerousgrowths or large polyps that cannotbe removed during a colonoscopy, and typically require surgery. Theminimally invasive procedureprevents and replaces surgery forcolon resection—the surgicalremoval of part of the colon. Inaddition, EMR can be used to treat early stagecancers in the esophagus and stomach.EMR is performed with a long, narrow tube
equipped with a light, video camera and other instruments. The tube is guided up through the anus and once a large polyp or superficial cancer is seen, thegastroenterologist injects a fluid mixed with dye to
create a cushion between the polyp or tumor and thegastrointestinal wall. The liquid lifts the abnormaltissues allowing the gastroenterologist to shave thelesion using thermal energy. The lesion is removed
through the endoscope and thermal energy destroysany remaining precancerous or cancerous tissue.Faster recoveryEMR is an outpatient procedure similar to
a colonoscopy and typically takes one hour to perform.Traditional surgery on the other hand, involves reconstruction of your colon, a lengthy recovery time, changes to your diet and bowel movements andoccasionally a colostomy, a temporarypath for waste material to leave the body. “For the appropriate patient, EMRhas many positive aspects,” says Dr.Chatrath. “Unlike surgery, there is no abdominalincision and you avoid a hospital stay.” Higher in complexity than traditional endoscopy,
not all gastroenterologists are trained to perform EMR.Dr. Chatrath’s extensive training in interventionalendoscopy gives him the expertise needed to performthis intricate procedure previously not offered toresidents in the tristate area. “EMR is now the standard of care for patients
with these types of conditions,” says Dr. Chatrath. “It’s very exciting and rewarding to offer EMR to our community.”
