OUR HISTORY

Ten years ago, Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan started

working as the “apartment therapist,” traveling by

scooter to his clients’ homes to help make their spaces

beautiful, organized and healthy.

In 2004, Maxwell launched Apartment Therapy.

Today Apartment Therapy is the largest independent

website dedicated to all things home.

Our squiggle logo represents healthy, beautiful energy

flow. It is one of a series of hundreds of unique squiggles

that Maxwell has been drawing freehand since 2001.

Good flow is a central tenet of Maxwell’s interior design

philosophy, and one of the founding principles of

Apartment Therapy.
