    WALKWAY FAST FACTS

    • Opened in 1889 as the Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad Bridge, the “Great Connector” linked the industrial northeast with the developing midwest. At the time, it was the longest bridge in the world.

    • On May 8, 1974, a spark from an eastbound train led to a great fi re on the bridge. Over 700 feet of track was destroyed, and no rail traffi c would ever again cross the span.

    • Rebuilt and reopened in October 2009 following a decades-long grassroots campaign, Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park exists today thanks to the efforts of a dedicated friends group, the Dyson Foundation, the generosity of many donors, and a strong partnership with New York State.

    • At 212 feet above the Hudson River and 1.28 miles across, Walkway Over the Hudson is the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge. Visitors take in scenic views north to the Catskills, and south to the Hudson Highlands.

    • Inducted into the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame in 2016,the Walkway connects the Hudson Valley Rail Trail in Ulster County with the William R. Steinhaus Rail Trail in Dutchess County.

    • The park has welcomed over fi ve million visitors from all 50 states and 52 countries to enjoy walking, cycling, and running amidst its unrivaled beauty.

    656/19 CHRONOGRAM SUMMER ARTS PREVIEW

Mikaela Bennett in “Acquanetta,” July 11-21 at LUMA Theater as part of Bard SummerScape.

This year, after not only a typically long upstate New York winter but an atypically cold and damp April and May as well, the much-anticipated arrival of summer is sure to feel especially sweet for both regional residents and ecstatic visitors. And what better way

to savor that sweetness than to get up, get out, and enjoy a bit of the joyous cascade of seasonal arts events and activities that the warmer months always bring to the Hudson Valley—with the verdant natural beauty of the area as the backdrop?

From the days of the Hudson River School painters to those of the rollicking Borscht Belt era (more on that later) and the heady 1969 Woodstock Festival—which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year—and right on up to the plethora of attractions in the thoughtful, custom-curated roundup you’ll nd in this very section, the Hudson Valley has long enjoyed a worldwide reputation as a thriving destination of inspiring and fun indoor and outdoor arts-related action.

Just for you, as we do every year right here in Chronogram’s Summer Arts Preview pages, we’ve put together our usual bespoke rundown of recommended events and exhibits in the elds of music, art, dance, and theater; new to the SAP compendium for 2019 is a comedy component, which has certainly been long overdue, given the tremendous amount of internationally renowned laugh-making talent that heats up the Hudson Valley each summer. Also, here to add to the enjoyment are some sidebar pieces we’ve cooked up exclusively for this issue, each of which is chock full of quirky kernels of conversation-starting delight.

So, then, let’s do this. It’s time for summer fun. And when you take that ride, keep Chronogram by your side, as your guide. Stay safe. And enjoy.

DIGITAL MARKETING TO AN EXTENDED AUDIENCE

EMAIL MARKETINGEmail marketing is one of the most effective digital tools available, enabling you to directly engage with a precisely targeted audience. By following up and retargeting those who showed interest your response rate climbs.

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETINGYou need to come up with a nonstop stream of relevant content and engage with customers across all social channels, every single day. We help by giving your business one place to stay social. Generate leads, schedule ready-to-publish content, and communicate with your followers all from one place. Finally, a tool that makes managing social media simple.

    WEBSITE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

Without a web presence, you’re missing out on one of the simplest and most effective ways to connect with established customers and attract new ones. Our talented website team works with you directly to create a website that best represents your business, products, and services.

    SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATIONAND ONLINE VISIBILITY

A higher ranking website on Google is proven to get more results. We’ll conduct an audit of your current website and provide recommendations to move your business to a higher rating.

SEARCH ENGINE MARKETINGSEM is about creating an advertisement that appears in the top three or bottom three paid positions on a Google search results page. We bid on keywords so the ad appears when someone searches for a particular phrase you are targeting. The ad is optimized on a weekly sometimes daily basis to ensure the budget is being managed efficiently and effectively.

    CUSTOMIZED TARGETING & REMARKETING

    (includes geofencing)

The benefits of custom digital display plus conversion tracking and retargeting. With conversion tracking, we’ll monitor the number of visitors that take a specific action on your website such as filling out a contact form. Retargeting keeps your brand in front of your website visitors across the web after they’ve exited your website without taking an action like making a purchase or filling out a contact form.

This year, the readers will choose! The Chronogrammies is about shining the spotlight on the most outstanding establishments, organizations, and people in the Hudson Valley—chosen by the readers of Chronogram. They’re not shy. Over 11,000 participants told us about why living here is so great.

After receiving over 55,000 nominations, the top 5 nominees in each category have advanced to the voting round. Voting is open from April 1-May 31, 2020. Those receiving the most votes overall for the entire duration of the contest including nominations will be declared the winners.

Chronogrammies winners will be published in the July 2020 issue of Chronogram.
