ANALYSIS OF GONE

SETTING -THE FILM WAS FIRST SET IN AN EERIE ,CREEPY

WOOD WHICH IS A TYPICAL CONVENTION OF A THRILLER. THE WOODS WERE COVERED IN TALL DARK TREES AND A

LAKE FLOWED THROUGH. THE NEXT SETTING WAS ON AN

EMPTY ROAD NEAR THE END OF THE OPENING. THE ROAD

WAS ON A EMPTY BRIDGE HOWEVER ONLY ONE CAR WAS DRIVING THROUGH WHICH HELPS TOO ADD

TENSION

Edit and Camera The establishing shot was a close up of a hand appearing on a tree. Next it cuts to a long shot zooming in to a close up a someone walking in the wood. Then a tracking shot follows a girl as

she hikes through the woods then cuts to a medium close up of the girl from behind left

framed. After there is a extreme long high angle shot as she walks which then zooms in to the girl

holding a map. After there is a high angle tracking shot as she continue waling but then cuts to a low angle shot facing up to the trees making the girl seem small and vulnerable. It

then cuts in to a lake and we then see a point of view shot from the girl as she pushes her way

through some bushes. It then cuts to an extreme long shot of her walking through a field and zooms in as she observes the map on a park

bench. Later it ends on a high angle tracking shot of the girl driving away in her car on a empty

bridge

Mise en scene Props-The main prop used was a map which the young woman

followed as she walked around the woods. She was also wearing a backpack which may connote she's travelling or hiking. The trees were used to set the scene which gives a

creepy vibe. The park bench was not a typical convention since it was in a normal place however was there to serve the

purpose of the map. Character-The only character that appears in the opening is a

young female aged around 25.She was dressed in casual clothing

Clothing-The female character wore casual clothing. She wore a jacket ,jeans ,trainers and was carrying a backpack which suited her as she hiked in the woods. She comes across as a

normal young adult which are mainly the typical protagonist in thrillers.

Lighting-Throughout the begging the lighting was ambient which isn't a typical convention of thriller since the lighting is

usually dark to add tension. Characters-The only character that appears in the opening is a young female aged between 25-30.She is a typical young adult

however we don't know what she is doing in the film and whether she is the antagonist or protagonist. She was played

by Amanda SeyFried.

Sound-Throughout the opening creepy ,eerie music played. The music was slow pace played on a piano which helps to add

tension to the opening and suits the genre of thriller.

Titles- All the titles that appeared in the opening appeared in a white font which wasn't very effective. The distribution and production companies that appeared in the opening are Lake side Entertainment ,Summit Entertainment and Sydney Kimmel Entertainment. The title Gone appear half way through ,it stood out from the background but wasn't very effective as the main title.
