Who would be the audience for your media product? Research Target audience Media Consumption How we used our research We created a questionnaire for our product to see what response our audience would have on our storyline. We asked questions on like how old they were & if they’ d watch our film, so that we were able to see what audience we could aim our film at. Similar films: We felt like we could relate our film to others like the “Saw” franchise or the film “Insidious” as they both have elements of a psychological thriller & horror. Therefore, we had to aim for a similar target audience. http://bcasmedia2014fpgroup11. blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/audience- questionnaire.html The majority of our responses also said that they’d set our age classification at a 15, so we decided to set this at our age classification. This then allowed us to add more violence/gore in our product. The target audience for our film is aimed at girls/women between the ages of 15-30 who are not so easily scared. We thought this would be a suitable audience as the 3 main characters of the film are all teenage girls and have the typical behaviour of young girls/women, so that the audience can relate the characters lives in the film, and could make it a scarier experience. Also we looked at films with similar storylines to ours with certain elements of gore/torture and looked what age range their films were classified at and compared them to our. We found that most of the films we looked at had young audiences. We thought we’d exhibit our films on places like Netflix or have them made available to watch in the cinema, so that our target audience would have easy access to it. We decided that we’d use a mainstream distributor. We saw that “Fox Searchlight” distributed a range of different genre films including horror/thrillers- therefore, we thought this would be appropriate for our film We used our questionnaire responses to develop our film and make it more suitable for our target audience, we didn’t think we had to change our storyline as all of our responses said they were able to follow it. Media ConsumptionHow we used

our research

We created a questionnaire for our product to see what response our audience would have on our storyline. We asked questions on like how old they were & if they’d watch our film, so that we were able to see what audience we could aim our film at.

Similar films: We felt like we could relate our film to others like the “Saw” franchise or the film “Insidious” as they both have elements of a psychological thriller & horror. Therefore, we had to aim for a similar target audience.

The majority of our responses also said that they’d set our age classification at a 15, so we decided to set this at our age classification.

We saw that “Fox Searchlight” distributed a range of different genre films including horror/thrillers- therefore, we thought this would be appropriate for our film

We used our questionnaire responses to develop our film and make it more suitable for our target audience, we didn’t think we had to change our storyline as all of our responses said they were able to follow it.
