Automatisch ein übersichtliches HandbuchTäglich entstehen im Sortiment von EROWA neue Produkte. Oft handelt es sich um abgeänderte Standardprodukte, beispielsweise Spannsysteme. In regelmässigen Abständen gelangen aber auch ganz neue Entwicklungen auf den Markt. Die im luzer-nischen Büron ansässige EROWA bietet denn auch ein sehr breites Sortiment von Spannsystemen über Automationsgeräte bis zu Prozesssteuerungssoftware für die gesamte spanabhebende Metallindustrie.

EROWA-Roboter sind Kleinserien, die nur we-nige Male in exakt derselben Ausführung verkauft werden. Entsprechend riesig ist die Vielfalt an Schemas und Zeichnungen. Bis anhin mussten für technische Dokumentati-

onen Techniker aus dieser Sammlung die zur Ma-schine passenden Zeichnungen heraussuchen – ei-ne sehr zeitaufwendige Arbeit. Für Bedienungsan-leitungen musste aus Kostengründen auf diese Selektion verzichtet werden, weshalb jeweils die

Unterlagen mehrerer Varianten beigelegt wurden. Ein Beispiel: Kunden in den USA benötigen aufgrund der anderen Netzspannung einen Anpassungstrafo. Dieser war bisher in allen Schemas enthalten, auch in der Schweiz, wo der Trafo nie gebraucht wird. Mit dieser unübersichtlichen Lösung gab sich EROWA nicht zufrieden und schuf mit Hilfe der Software EPLAN Engineering Configuration EEC One eine Lösung, die zu jedem Projekt die passenden Sche-mas zur Verfügung stellt. Heute ist der Anpassungs-

trafo also nur in den Dokumenta-tionen für die USA enthalten, denn nur dort wird er auch verbaut.

Alles passt zusammen«Dank unserer EPLAN-Lösung passt heute das Handbuch einer Anlage perfekt zur Anlage. Es sind genau die Komponenten und Schnittstellen beschrieben, die vorhanden sind. Und es liegen die passenden Schemas bei, keine Auswahlsendungen. Unabhängig davon, wie gut ein Schema oder eine Lösung ist: Die Entwicklungs-abteilung leistet der Front einen guten Dienst und erleichtert den Technikern die Arbeit deutlich», beschreibt Walter Bauer, Leiter der Forschung und Entwicklung für Elektronik und Hardware bei EROWA, die Situation. «Auch für das Marketing und Verkauf sind kundenspezifische Schemas hilf-reich, ebenso profitieren die Mit-arbeiter auf Montage.»

Sämtliche Mitarbeiter der Elektrokonstruktion bei EROWA arbeiten mit EPLAN, insgesamt sind es sechs Personen. Dafür benötigt EROWA drei Floa-ting-Lizenzen und eine feste Arbeitsplatzlizenz. Die Konstrukteure erstellen mit EPLAN Schemas für Elektro und Pneumatik und generieren daraus un-ter anderem Stücklisten, Kabel-, Klemm- und Auf-baupläne. Bei der Arbeit an den Schemas ist Mo-dularisierung ein zentraler Punkt. Darum ist so viel wie möglich in Makros angelegt. Neu hinzugekom-men ist EPLAN Engineering Configuration One (EEC One), das Automatisierungstool von EPLAN. Aus einer Bestellung, beispielsweise in Form einer Excel-Liste, lassen sich nun die Makros ansteuern.

Ablauf der Software-Evaluation2011 suchte EROWA eine Ersatzlösung für die bis-herige Konstruktionsumgebung, denn die Anforde-rungen an eine Software hatten sich über die Zeit verändert. Aufgrund von Kriterien wie Funktionali-tät, Konfigurierbarkeit, Support oder Kosten fiel die Evaluation eigentlich zugunsten einer anderen Soft-ware aus. Warum wurde trotzdem EPLAN einge-führt? «Sobald wir strategische Aspekte wie Markt-präsenz des Anbieters und Erweiterbarkeit der Software mitberücksichtigten, lag EPLAN deutlich vorne», erklärt Bauer. Ausserdem wird EPLAN in der Automobilindustrie von einigen Kunden bevor-zugt oder gar verlangt. Weiter ist die Rekrutierung von Personal relativ einfach, weil die Verbreitung von EPLAN sehr gross ist. EROWA holte im Vorfeld des Entscheids aber auch Empfehlungen von Part-nern und OEMs wie Hermle, Fehlmann oder Exeron ein. «Das war ein wertvoller Erfahrungsaustausch», so Bauer. «Wir wollten nachvollziehen, was auf-grund der Erfahrungen der anderen das Beste für EROWA wäre.»

EPLAN ist ein mächtiges Tool, bei dem jeder Kunde einrichten kann, was er braucht. «Es gibt niemanden, der einem sagt: Genau das brauchen Sie!», sagt Bauer. «Richtig konfigurieren kann nur die Firma selber. Dafür muss sie ihre Prozesse ken-

nen, denn nur so kann sich das EPLAN-Tool an die Firma anpas-sen. Es bringt nichts, die Firma an EPLAN anzupassen.» Die In-stallation selber sei denkbar einfach ge-wesen, sagt er: «Plug and Play.» Je nach Branche sind die An-forderungen und Be-dürfnisse aber sehr verschieden.

Um in der aktuel-len Wirtschaftssituation wettbewerbsfähig zu blei-ben, muss eine Firma jede mögliche Effizienzstei-gerung nutzen. Insofern ist ein hoher Automatisie-rungsgrad auch in der Herstellung von Elektrosche-mas hilfreich. Als Erweiterungen für EPLAN Electric P8 sind EEC One oder das EPLAN Engineering Configuration One oder EPLAN Pro Panel darum attraktiv. EROWA entschied sich, EEC One einzufüh-ren und konnte damit die Grundfunktionalitäten bestens ergänzen.

Schulungen nach MassDer Umstieg auf EPLAN war problemlos. «Einzig Mitarbeiter, die viele Jahre mit der bisherigen Lö-sung gearbeitet haben, mussten sich umstellen. Andere, die EPLAN bereits kannten, empfanden den Wechsel als Erleichterung», sagt Bauer. Anlässlich der EPLAN-Einführung wurde einer der Konstruk-teure als Super User geschult, der sein Wissen an die anderen weitergab. «Ein Kurs kostet viel Geld und absorbiert die Mitarbeiter für mehrere Tage. Generell überzeugen mich Schulungen nur selten, meist kann man nicht viel direkt anwenden», er-gänzt Bauer. Für solche Firmen bietet EPLAN eine Einführungsschulung am Standort des Kunden. In einem sogenannten Consulting Meeting kann die Firma in 2–3 Tagen zusammen mit EPLAN-Spezia-listen spezifische Themen besprechen.

EROWA verfügt über grosses Know-how bezüg-lich EPLAN-Software, greift aber gelegentlich trotz-dem gerne auf den Support in Monheim zurück. «EPLAN lässt sich seine Dienstleistungen gut be-zahlen, bietet aber auch grossartigen Support», sagt Bauer. So ist es aber auch bei EROWA: Produkte, Maschinen und Komponenten sind im internationa-len Vergleich eher teuer. Doch auch sie punkten mit ihrer hohen Qualität sowie der optimalen Beratung und dem Support nach der Investition. SMM
