There is a range of different font styles which helps distinguish between different cover lines

The colour pink connotes femininity and sweetness. It can also suggest life because the colour of flowers are associated with pink

The cover line is written along the centre of the image, this is unconventional for a music magazine cover. It’s unconventional because the cover lines are usually along the edges of the magazine.

The singer, Lana Del Ray, is looking into the distance- this is called indirect mode of address. Indirect mode of address can either imply a disconnection with the reader or mystery

This magazine cover for ‘Billboard’ is quite generic. The background is a plain bubblegum pink that ties in with Katy Perry’s persona. It also makes the black writing stand out and relates to Katy’s extremely girly image.

The colours in this issue are very loud although only black and pink are used (apart from the signature blue and yellow in the masthead.

The main cover line says ‘Katy Perry’ which lets the reader know who’s on the cover of the magazine.

The ‘flash’ shows an insight of what’s included in the magazine. This appeals to the consumer to purchase it.
