Discounts Para Seniors

TEXTBLAST NEWS

This column yields space to a very timely and relevant piece reprinted from BANAT. The Freeman Cebu written by Antolin M. Dela Serna of the Katipong Maasinhon sa Sugbo.

“Hangtud karong panahona, daghan pa kaayo’ng mga establishments sa tibuok nasud nga nagdumili pagtuman sa balaud paghatag og discounts ngadto sa mga senior citizens. Ang uban, mohatag man, apan dili ilakip ang 12% nga VAT exemption. Ang uban pud, duna’y ceiling ang kantidad nga hatagan og discount.

Taliwa niini’ng maong kalapsan, wa kita’y nahimo , at their mercy g’yud ta. Wa’ man ta’y Atty.

Advocate siya for the rights of senior citizens. Wa’ man tay advo-cate dinhi. By the way, usa kini sa katungdanan sa Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA). Pipila sa mga functions niini:

1. To monitor compliance of the provisions of RA 9994, particularly the grant of special discounts and privileges to senior citizens;

2. To report to the mayor, any individual, establishments, business en-tity, institution or agency found violating any provisions of RA 9994;

3. To assist the senior citizens in filing complaints or charges against those violating any provisions of RA 9994.

Matud ni Macalintal, “we have been looking for someone in Congress to take the cudgels for us because there are hundreds of es-tablishments that wittingly or unwittingly violate the provisions of the law.”

Miawhag si Macalintal nga hatagan og dugang ngipon ang RA 9994, matud niya: “Senator Poe should call upon the mayors and governors to strictly apply Section 7 of RA 9994. The law gives them the power to can-cel or revoke the business permits, after due notice and hearing, once the complaint for violation of the law is filed against them.”

Tuod man, ang atong mga local officials makatake kaha the cudgels for us?

Gahi jod, ug dili ba nagpakabuta bungol lamang. Malahos pa unta!

No Professional fees... (from page 1)province -- the main hospital at Dongon, Maasin, at Sogod, Padre Bur-gos, Limasawa, Pintuyan, Hinunangan, and this municipality -- have been complying with the current Philhealth policy on No Balance Billing.

Any payments due beyond the maximum allowed listed for Philhealth, especially for poor patients, the provincial government will shoulder through the P 170 Million Indigent Fund set aside for this purpose, Villa said.

He encouraged those who may have experienced being asked for profes-sional fees in any of the seven public hospitals in the province to go forward, file complaint, so this can be duly investigated.

Meanwhile, ADH Chief Ionne Castillones told PIA that the highlight of their 46th celebration was a massive, voluntary bloodletting in coordination with the provincial Red Cross and EVRMC.

A total of 176 bags of blood were collected and these were taken from volunteer donors who were mostly teachers, cops, and employees and staff of ADH who donated blood as models, Castillones said.

Last week the Medical Mission Matters conducted a free cleft and palate operation, in which 150 patients were treated for their facial deformities, Castillones also said.

ing the biometrics of voters whose biometrics such as picture, signature and thumb mark have not yet been captured,” Gulay revealed.

World Bank’s requirements, she said. She added that the submission of bidding doc-uments should be on or before October 2, 2015.

“The Pre-bid conference intends to harmonize bidding procurement process and as much as possible targeting to have the said project successful,” Almeria expressed to the participants such as the interested bidders, the Bids and Awards Committee chaired by Provincial Engineer Nelson Tan, some provincial staff and bid-ding witnesses including the Philippine In-formation Agency.

Almeria said that bidders should be compliant to the provisions of the bidding “so that there will be a no rebidding,” she

noted.One of the important project require-

ments stipulated in the checklist include the duly signed list of contractor’s person-nel such as the three key officers - Project Manager, who is a Licensed Engineer with at least 15 years of experience in road construction, Project Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in road con-struction and a Materials Engineer – a civil engineer with at least 5 years of relevant work in materials and quality control duly accredited by the DPWH.

The provincial government of South-ern Leyte will have a 10% share of the World Bank-funded project worth more than P18 million, it was learned.

DOST Regional Director Edgardo Esperencilla lauded the project of Clavejo as the only one of its kind in Eastern Visayas region. Clavejo mounted 20-solar panels, 16 batteries, one AS inverter, and produced 20,000 watts every month. He needed only 12,000 watts for his project and the rest for his household needs.
