Research problem
• Innovation = economic growth• Innovation in the economy vs. education ..?• Innovation in the economy vs. teacher
training..?
Innovation skills
• Definition is needed in order to align efforts and provide common understanding of the concept
• Innovation skills should be included in:
1)Curricula
2)Recruitment criteria for teachers in training
3)Evaluation systems for teachers
4)Teacher training routes
Innovation skills (6 out of 20 in total)1. Idea formation – teaching how to develop your own ideas and
other people’s ideas2. Problem solving – teaching how to solve problems and overcome
obstaclesIndependent thinking – breaking up mental models, teaching that ‘not all that glitters is gold’; thinking ‘outside the box’ even if this sometimes may go against popular opinion. Identifying useful sources of information and gathering and utilizing only that information which is essential.4. Divergent thinking – teaching on how to change the perspective
and see the problem from another perspective6. Framing problems – teaching how to put an abstract and vague
concept into measurable frames which can be described and elaborated
Research approach (1) Innovation skills development in Polish schools
Research approach (2) –Digital resources vs. Innovation skills
• The report will be published in Polish in June 2017 by the Polish Ministry of Development.
