What is a meaingful sentence?A meaningful sentence
is one that uses context clues and synonyms to convey the meaning of a vocabulary word in the sentence.

To make a GREAT original meaningful sentence use one of the following techniques:Synonym clue: sentence contains a word that means the same or nearly the same as the unknown word. (You should not choose a synonym that is unknown to you.)Antonym clue: sentence contains a word that means the opposite as the unknown word.

Definition clue: definition of the word is used in the sentence. (Do NOT use “word, or definition” in the sentence.)
You only use one of these techniques per vocabulary word.

Antonym clue:Courtney worried that her friends
would ostracize her, but instead they group included her.

Example clue:The boy, who had been ostracized
from his friends because he had been punished, wished he could have joined them in the game.
Definition Clue:A vote had been taken to ostracize
the criminal, and he had to be immediately excluded from the group.

Reminders for writing meaningful sentences:• Use all vocabulary words from
each unit to write meaningful sentence
• Only one word per sentence (You should have 20 sentences.)
• Underline or highlight the vocab word
• You must use correct grammar, capitalization and punctuation
• Vocabulary words must be spelled correctly and used correctly.
