II Corinthians 5:20 - Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in

Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

• Evangelize: to preach, to proclaim the good tidings, to tell the good news

• We are the ambassadors representing Jesus Christ– Ambassador: a highest ranking diplomat who

represents a nation– II Corinthians 5:20 - Now then we are

• 6 styles of evangelism– Confrontational

• Peter in Acts 2

• Acts 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

• Acts 2: 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

• 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

• Confident, controversial, challenging, courageous, direct

– Intellectual• Paul in Acts 17• Acts 17: 2-3 And Paul, as his manner was, went in

unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

•  Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

• Acts 17:17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

• Acts 17:22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

• Educated, intelligent, well-reasoned, logical, accurate• Study, read and train himself

– Testimonial • Blind man in John 9• John 9:25  He answered and said, Whether he be a

sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

• 27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?

• Confident, excited, firm, personal, honest, powerful, direct, biographical

• He doesn’t confront or intellectualize, just share how Jesus changes his life

– Relational• Demoniac man living in the tombs• Mark 5:18 And when he was come into the ship, he

that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

• Personal, emotional, patient, passionate• Live a transformed life and be available to those who

will ask what you have that they don’t have.

• Invitational– Samaritan woman in John 4– John 4:28 The woman then left her

waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

– 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

– Persuasive, persistent, opportunistic– Invitation to church, Sunday School, church

events

• Serving– Tabitha, or Dorcas, in Acts 9– 36: Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple

named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

– 39: Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

– Care, compassion, love, patience, energy, hospitality, service

• You can evangelize or share the Gospel through one or more of 6 styles. Therefore we can fulfill the Great Commission: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. (Mark 16:15)
