February 17th: Breast Cancer Presen-tation at halftime of Girls Basketball game

The first day of practice for spring sports is Monday, February 27th. The KSHSAA recommends completion of the physical evaluation of athletes at least one month prior to the first practice to allow time for corrections of deficiencies and implementation of conditioning recommendations. Physical forms, concussion forms and parent permission/emergency card forms are available in the Activities/Athletics Office. Students who have previously participated in this school year’s fall and winter sports already have these forms submitted and do NOT need to have them filled out again.

Also, each athlete must pay the participation fee, if you have not done so this school year. Fees need to be paid in the Bookkeeper’s Office, if you have questions regarding the fee call the Activities Office at 241-9510. Do not wait until the first day of practice to take care of the requirements. Remember, a student will not be permitted to participate until all forms are on file and fees have been paid.

Class RankClass rank was determined by a formu-la that is designed to reward a student for performance in the local curriculum, standardized test score (ACT) and for complet-ing The Kansas Scholars Curriculum recom-mended curriculum. The formulas is:

A student’s weighted GPA + ACT score x.1 + The Kansas Scholars Curriculum (1 or 0)

The ACT scores used for this calculation are based on the best score on record at the end of the 7th semester. The Kansas Scholars Curric-ulum value will be one point for completing the recommended curriculum, or a zero if the stu-dent does not. The Valedictorian and Saluta-torian for the graduating class was determined after the completion of the 7th semester.
