he following are some tips to help youduce the chances of becoming acipient of a fine.
For residents in the apartments, makesure your balcony is free of trash, olddecorative lights, unapproved and/orhousing furniture.
Do not remove the window screens, oruse the windows as a method ofentrance/exit.
Do not prop open any exterior lockedresidence hall doors. For the safety of youand others in the residence halls, do not
prop open any residence hall doors
because you don't know whom you maybe letting in!
Do not loan your keys to anyone and donot attach your keys to your University
ID. Letting someone else use your key canbe considered an unattended guest.
Do not allow guest to stay over past thevisitation hours.
Maintain a clean room.
Do not use window coverings on theoutside of you blinds such as; foil,
blankets, signs, or any other item thatcan be viewed from the exterior of thebuilding.
Stay away from alcohol an illegal drugs.
Do not vandalize any Housing orUniversity property.
Respect others by keeping noise levels atan acceptable level.
Report any person behaving suspiciouslyto University Police at 337-475-5711.

January is National Thank you Month
Danke, grazie, merci, gracias, spasibo, thank you! No matter how you say thank you, say it this month. January is National Thank YouMonth; feel free to join McNeese Student Housing in celebrating this month.
You may remember your parents always asking you What do you say? and your response was Thank you. Sometime as we get olderor with the hustle and bustle of life, we forget to be polite and acknowledge people for the kind tasks that they do for us on a daily basis.Did you know that being thankful can actually make you feel better? When you have a pleasurable experience you are experiencing adopamine rush, this is the feel-good chemical that is linked with pleasurable experiences. This chemical reinforces behaviors that makeus feel good so that we will want to engage in that behavior again.
Ways that you can celebrate the month:
Start a gratitude journal and write one thing, or more, a day that you are thankful for.
Take turns at the dinner table in sharing who or what you are thankful for.
Write someone a thank you note, an email, or even a sticky note telling them you are thankful for them or something that they did for
you.
Tell someone that you may have just met thank you for what they did. This may be the person bagging your groceries or the person
at the gas station.
Do something nice for someone else.
Sometimes a simple thank you can turn someones day around.
Make a list of all that you are thankful for in your work life and personal life. Be specific. True blessings are the things in your life
that resonate importance and touch your core.
Know that being thankful can put you in a better mood. Look at that list when you are feeling down and use it to pick up your spirits
and keep you moving forward
Know that when we are thankful, we radiate this to the people around us and we impact them in a positive way.
Hang out with people who are truly thankful. It is contagious. You know who these people are immediately. They areenergetic and have
a certain spark to them. They laugh a lot and have a can-do attitude. They are willing to try new things. If you ask them what theyre
thankful for, they would be able to list off many.When you visit with this person, you feel energized, inspired and thankful to know them

Just 8% of People Achieve Their New Year's Resolutions. Here's How They Do It.
Keep it Simple
Many people use the New Year as an opportunity to make large bucket lists or attempt extreme makeovers, whetherpersonal or professional.
Thats a nice aspiration, experts saybut the average person has so many competing priorities that this type of approach isdoomed to failure. Essentially, shooting for the moon can be so psychologically daunting, you end up failing to launch in
the rst place.
So this year, Im keeping my resolution list short, says Chris Berdik, a science journalist and the author of Mind OverMind. I think my earlier laundry lists made it easier to abandon.
And its more sensible to set small, attainable goals throughout the year, rather than a singular, overwhelming goal,
according to psychologist Lynn Bua. Remember, it is not the extent of the change that matters, but rather the act of
recognizing that lifestyle change is important and working toward it, one step at a time, Bua adds.
Keep Believing You Can Do It
To be clear: Simply setting a goal does raise your chances of achieving that goal, signicantly.
But within weeks or months, people begin abandoning their resolutions as they hit bumps in the road that throw them otheir stride.
More often than not, people who fail to keep their resolutions blame their own lack of willpower. In surveys, these would -be resolvers repeatedly say that if only they had more self-determination, they wouldve overcome any hurdles and
achieved their goals.
An emerging body of research that willpower is malleable. In one study led by a Stanford University psychologist, scientists
gauged whether test subjects believed they could exhaust their willpower, and sought to convince them otherwise. Theresearchers found that people performed better or worse [on tests] depending on their belief in the durability of
willpower. You have as much willpower as you think you have, essentially. Which means that on some level, your journeytoward self-improvement will be a self-fullling prophecy.
