Statement of NeedThis course will provide current up-to-date clinical advances in maternal, fetal and neonatal medicine. The faculty will present a variety of topics in lectures, panels and cases that will include topics on: prevention of prematurity, update in fetal medicine, congenital renal disease in neonates, marijuana use effect on pregnancy and lactation, sepsis in the newborn and medico-legal issues in perinatology.

Learning Objectives:At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:• Manage the pregnant patient’s care to diminish risks for preterm birth considering such risks

as prior preterm birth, short cervical length and history of cervical surgery.• Counsel the pregnant and/or lactating patient on the risks of marijuana use. • Assess the neonate for indications of congenital renal disease.• Diagnose and manage the neonate with early-onset sepsis using best practice and current

evidence-based guidelines. • Integrate ethical practice and current law in perinatology into the care of pregnant and

neonatal patients.

Mid-Coastal California Perinatal Outreach ProgramThe Mid-Coastal California Perinatal Outreach Program (MCCPOP) is located in the Depart-ment of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine, at Stanford University. MCCPOP collaborates closely with the Charles B. and Ann L. Johnson Center for Pregnancy, and Newborn Services at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (LPCH). The Johnson Center, housed in the only Children’s Hospital in the Bay Area, – and one of the few in the United States – offers obstetrical, neonatal and developmental medicine services all at one location.
