Ditch Witch Walk BehindTrenchers Deliver Superior

Return on Investment

The Charles MachineWorks (CMW), Inc., manu-facturer of Ditch Witch® un-derground constructionequipment, has introduceda new line of compact andpowerful walk-behind tren-chers, each of which is de-signed and manufactured toprovide an exceptional re-turn on investment for smallbusiness owners, particu-larly equipment rental com-panies.

An illustration of the out-standing value of these tren-chers—the RT12, RT16,RT20, and RT24—can befound in results recently pub-lished by the auction orga-nizations Machinery Traderand Top Bid. Surveys con-ducted by these organiza-tions found that among tren-chers of 50 or less horse-power, winning bids for DitchWitch trenchers averagedmore than 30 percenthigher than any other equip-ment brand.

Numerous design fea-tures give reason for DitchWitch trenchers’ durabilityand reputation for maximumperformance with minimaldowntime. Among them:

• Hydraulic system, asopposed to belt-driven. De-cades ago, the Ditch Witchorganization made the deci-sion to transition to longer-lasting, easier-to-use hy-draulic systems on its tren-chers. The entire line ofDitch Witch walk-behind

trenchers incorporates astacked, in-line hydraulicpump configuration that ef-fectively eliminates verticalshafts and the use of beltsand/or flywheel reductionsystems, and ultimately re-duces downtime.

• Ease of operation. AllDitch Witch walk-behindtrenchers have fully hydro-static ground drives, withsimple-to-use, hydraulic,skid-steer-style steering.Even novice operators canquickly understand thehand controls—one hand tomobile, two hands totrench—so there’s less op-erator training necessary, and less operator fatigue.

Ditch Witch walk-behindsfeature a solid, adjustabletrail wheel that helps keepthe unit stable and reducesbreakover when loading, unloading, and travelingover curbs and other un-even terrain. Also, to keepthe trencher boom in theground during operationand/or maintain down pres-sure when placing the boomin the ground, the trail wheelgives the machine anotherpoint of leverage besides thetrack undercarriage. Thetrail wheel is one of severalunique features that distin-guish the performance ofDitch Witch walk-behindtrenchers.

• High-quality OEM prod-ucts. From the digging teeth

Ditch Witchto the heavy-duty steelframe, the Ditch Witch orga-nization designs and manu-factures virtually every com-ponent of its trenchers andother equipment lines at its30,000-square-foot manu-facturing facility in Perry,Okla. What components thecompany must outsourceare selected for their repu-tation for long-lasting perfor-mance, such as the 12-, 20-, and 24-horsepowerHonda® engines that powerthe Ditch Witch RT12, RT20,and RT24, respectively. The

RT16 is equipped with a Van-guard® Briggs & Stratton™engine that performs as wellas, or better than, other en-gines in the 16-horsepowerclass.

To keep the engine oper-ating at maximum capacityeven in the hottest condi-tions, Ditch Witch walk-be-hind trenchers come stan-dard with a cooling systemthat is superior to that of anycompetitor.

• Options that enhancevalue. With every new walk-behind trencher, the DitchWitch organization offers achoice of high-flotation tiresor a heavy-duty DuraTrak™track system, which pro-vides exceptional tractionand stability over rough anduneven terrain.

The Ditch Witch organi-zation designs and manu-factures every single com-ponent of its exceptionally

long-lasting digging sys-tems, and offers a wide va-riety of digging chains foroptimal performance in allsoil conditions. Recently thecompany began offering thechoice of the DuraTooth™for its walk-behind tren-chers. The Ditch WitchDuraTooth is manufacturedwith up to 35 percent moretungsten carbide than anycompetitor’s digging tooth. It is strategically applied to

the surface, in the basemetal, and in the weld tomake the DuraTooth thelongest-lasting tooth in theindustry—next to theDuraTooth C2X™, that is,which is designed for larger-horsepower trenchers.
