MC4 Connector Fitting Instructions

This guide should take you through the assembly of MC4 Connectors for PV Cable. To create a connection you will need to make both the Male and Female side of the connector. Both sides use some of the same and some different parts in order to make the connector, so please pay close attention to avoid errors.

1. Lay out the PV Cable and following components: MC4 Back Cap, MC4 Cap Grip Clip, MC4 Cap Rubber Stop, MC4 Cap Ring

2. Place the items on the PV cable in that order.

3. Take the wire and use the wire strippers in the MC4 PV CONNECTOR TOOL Set to strip about an inch of the rubber from the cable.

4. Your stripped wire should now look like this… These stages apply to making both the male and female sides of the MC4 Connectors.

5. For the female side take the smaller crimp (MC4 Female Crimp) as shown above. For the male side you will need the larger crimp (MC4 Male Crimp). Use the crimping tool as shown below.

8. Next place the MC4 Stop Cup and Female Connector on as shown.

9. Slide all the components up to the end and tighten together by screwing the MC4 Back Cap to the MC4 Female Connector. Your female side should now be complete and look like this…

10. For the male side, again use an MC4 Stop Cup, then the MC4 Male Connector with the MC4 ‘O’ Ring placed on the end.

11. Tighten the MC4 Back Cap to the MC4 Male Connector and your male side will be complete, as pictured below. Your full MC4 Male/Female Connectors should now be ready to join together.
