About us

Dear Business Partners and Readers,

MC Technologies GmbH can look back on many years of successful company history since its founding 70 years ago. During this time we have developed from a distribution company into a manufacturer of sophisticated products and software for the communications technology segment, with an offering supplemented by the products of strong partners. The products and services we offer today are state-of-the-art and will remain so, because our goal is to consistently offer excellent products delivering added benefit to our customers.

MC Technologies GmbH is your partner for wireless-based, industrial M2M/IoT end devices and end-to-end solutions; industrial connectors and customized connection technology. We can assist you from the idea to selection of the optimum product through to full realization and serial supply – competently and from one single source.

We have continued to expand our range of products in the data technology segment. In addition to tried-and-tested Gemalto/Cinterion mobile modules we can now also supply Quectel modules. This allows us to offer an even more diverse portfolio including, for example, NarrowBand IoT (NB IoT) modules.

In the M2M/IoT mobile terminal/gateway segment we have developed the MC100, a new, highly flexible, programmable multifunctional platform which enables you to generate your own Linux-based applications. Should you require a customized solution, we are happy to handle customer-specific programming, hardware development and device manufacturing for you.

Our M2M/IoT data terminals, (programmable) routers and industrial computers for the transmission of data via mobile networks and LAN round off our offering.

On request we can also handle management of your SIM cards with your telecommunications provider; integrate the application into a software portal solution and manage certificates to administer secure global access points to this network. In other words, we can provide you with ready-for-use ”end-to-end” solutions from one single source. The product offering is completed by a range of accessories including the high-quality antennas in our Smart Collection® series, which can be customized to your specific needs.

When it comes to connection technology we are able to offer you connectors from well-known manufacturers as well as customized cable sets, all supplied with personal advice and tailored to your specific application. Numerous products can be delivered from our in-house stocks, allowing us to meet your needs at very short notice. MC Technologies meets challenging customer requirements …

Construction machines are moved around to different locations and must always be ready for use. Cranes, for example, are thus fitted with networked industrial computers which control and monitoring them. For the operators it is crucial that they are able to monitor the machines’ operating status continuously, also remotely, and at changing locations. Over and above this, van-dalism on building sites is a serious problem. Remote monitoring must thus also provide an option for visual observation of the site.

The mobility of the machines makes the use of a wireless solution via a mobile network the ideal option for such applica-tions, thanks, among other things, to the high degree of network coverage. MC Technologies routers are able to provide protected, reliable network connections to machines via mobile networks and the Internet. Just as if the machines were located within the operator’s local network. Our routers are able to secure the connection independently thanks to integrated mechanisms. The use of two SIM cards in the router ensures higher network availa-bility as required. In addition to this, IP cameras can easily be connected to the router. This allows visual observation of the building site parallel to data communications. It not only sounds simple; it is simple.

The MC Technologies VPN solution for your remote main-tenance, monitoring, networking and alarm applicationsVPNGate allows you to connect MC Technologies router or your PC to your VPN in just a few simple steps. As a result connected network devices such as SPS, IP cameras, IP displays and sensors can be directly accessed via all networks. A simple and cost-effective solution!

VPNGate generates all the necessary certificates and automatically configures the connected devices. Your VPN is managed via a secure Web portal, where you can create groups and users; assign them rights and devices and monitor all access. This makes it possible to represent your company’s entire organization by simply using ”drag and drop”.

You decide who is allowed what access to your devices. The only operating precondition is that your devices are connected to the Internet. No expensive private APN’s; no public IP addresses; no roaming charges; no contrac-tual commitment to a mobile network operator.

Wireless modules for your M2M/IoT hardwareMC Technologies has been selling wireless modules for over 20 years now. We offer not only a wide range of products but also use the modules in our own router, gateway and terminal products.

We are happy to share this experience with you – for example within the scope of design-in support. Corresponding evaluation kits are available for advance testing of various modules with your application.

Our sales activities regarding Cinterion® modules (made by Gemalto N.V.) were ceased on 14.06.2019.

Quectel

Quectel offers high performance mobile (from GSM to LTE), GNSS (GPS and GLONASS), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules to facilitate IoT connectivity in all markets and industries. Modules are available as LGA, LCC and mini PCIe models. Quectel also already offers serially produced NB-IoT modules.

M2M/IoT terminals for your applicationMC Technologies offers a well-balanced portfolio of end-device terminals with RS232, RS485 or USB interfaces for mobile communications.

SMS terminals

Transmission of SMS short messages direct to a mobile device can be easily implemented via AT commands from the end devices to the terminal.

Alarm terminals

Alarm terminals are available for transmission of simple alarm signals via SMS. Signal changes to the alarm terminal’s digital inputs trigger the transmission of pre-defined SMS messages. SMS messages to the alarm terminal can be used to trigger switching operations. Messages are configured via a PC graphic interface.

Data terminals/Data modems

A range of terminals are available for use as ”data modems” for ”intelligent” end devices such as PCs and control systems. RS232 and USB serial interfaces are used as communication interfaces for such applications. Wireless wide-range communication can be carried out via 4G(LTE), 3G(UMTS/HSPA) or 2G(GPRS/EDGE) mobile networks. (For data terminals with an Ethernet interface see MC100 terminal on Page 8).

Programmable terminals

Individual Java™-programmable terminals are available for ”intelligent” processing/evaluation of RS232/USB inter-face data and mobile transmission of this data. A wide range of terminals with 4G(LTE), 3G(UMTS/HSPA) or 2G(GPRS/EDGE) can be supplied for such applications.

MC100 extension boardsAll MC100 basic devices can be supplied with extension boards. The basic boards are fitted with integral pin headers for extension boards (see illustration bottom). These interfaces have an open design to allow customers the option of developing their own extension boards. MC Technologies offers both customer-specific hardware and also software development for projects.

MC100 Linux operating system

The MC100 is equipped with a lean Linux Board Support Package (BSP) and thus provides drivers for all inter-faces, among other things. The basic version includes a pre-installed integral Ethernet data terminal function via a mobile network. Configuration is via an integrated Web interface.

MC100 customer applications

Customers can develop their own applications on the MC100 platform. This is possible using applications such as Node-RED™, Java™ or Python™ or optionally C/C++. MC Technologies provides its customers with direct support from its MC100 hardware and software developers. It also offers both customer-specific hardware and also software development for projects.

The MC100 GPIO gateway is equipped with a wide range of analogue inputs and digital in- and outputs. Node-RED™, a simple graphic programming tool supporting various pre-configured transmission protocols, can be used to forward measured values, meter readings, switching statuses and calculations to in-house servers or visualization software via LTE mobile networks.

In many cases the MC100 GPIO can be used to replace an under-used but cost-intensive electrical PLC controller while simultaneously functioning as an IoT gateway in a single device.
