JOINT DEGREES MD/MBA and MD/MHA Go beyond clinical care In recognition of the critical need for leaders in the practice of medicine and management, the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and College of Business at Florida Atlantic University have developed joint degrees in medicine, master of business administration (MD/MBA), and master of health administration (MD/MHA). The objective of the joint degrees is to provide future physicians the expertise in management and leadership to lead the challenges of a rapidly changing healthcare system. Tuition for the MBA and MHA portions of the joint degrees is determined by the FAU College of Business and is subject to change; however, such tuition is locked for 2 years after the student starts the MBA or MHA portions of the joint program. Tuition for the MBA and MHA portions of the joint degrees is the same for in-state and out-of-state residents. Admissions All MD students who have been accepted or currently matriculated in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine will be offered conditional admission to the joint MD/MBA or MD/MHA program, provided they maintain the required program standards for the MD program and receive approval from the College of Medicine’s Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Admissions. Students that have received, at any point, an evaluation of satisfactory with concern or unsatisfactory in the MD program or who have had concerns raised about their professionalism may not be eligible for the joint MD/MBA or MD/MHA program. The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) will be waived for medical students applying to the joint MD/MBA and MD/ MHA programs. The decision to apply for the joint MD/MBA or MD/MHA program should be made by the interested student at least four weeks prior to the semester in which the student wishes to begin taking MBA or MHA classes. MD/MBA: For the College of Business, medical students will be considered to have a concentration in medicine within the MBA portion of the joint program. A minimum of 30 credits must be taken for the MBA portion of the joint degree. Students entering the MBA program without having Finance and Accounting prerequisites must take 36 credits. Doctor of Medicine/Master of Business Administration (MD/MBA) Joint Degree

The joint MD/MBA degree will provide students with a broad base of fundamental skills in leadership, finance, accounting, operations, marketing and strategy, and may be obtained while the students are completing the MD degree. The joint program offers flexibility for the students to arrange their own schedule for the MBA portion of the program, subject to the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine restrictions, and delivery method.
