General InformationCOURSE DESCRIPTIONMayo Clinic’s Gastroenterology and Hepatology 2016 is designed to update physicians and other health care providers practicing in gastroenterology and hepatology about new approaches for diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Faculty will present data on multiple topics, including inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal neoplasia, general gastroenterology, esophageal, motility, nutrition, pancreaticobiliary disorders, endoscopy and hepatology.

Controversies in diagnosis and management will be analyzed in discussions and concurrent breakout sessions. Complex endoscopy cases and cutting-edge technology will be presented by expert endoscopists in a video forum.

Highlighting the 2016 course is participation by the Presidents of all four major gastroenterology societies in the United States. Presidents include Mayo Clinic consultants Keith D. Lindor, M.D., Kenneth R. DeVault, M.D., Michael Camilleri, M.D., and Douglas O. Faigel, M.D., of AASLD, ACG, AGA and ASGE, respectively. Attendees will have an opportunity to interact with the Presidents at breakfast and lunch sessions.

To maximize time away from practice and enhance your learning experience, three optional educational activities will be offered:

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this course, participants should be able to:• Define the role of newer antiviral medications in the treatment of viral hepatitis. • Summarize the evolving management of cholestatic disorders.• Describe the treatment approach for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. • Identify current strategies for the management of Clostridium difficile infection.• Differentiate the newer anticoagulation agents and their management in patients

undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy. • Develop an approach for patients with esophageal motility disorders, including

2015 UPDATE IN GASTROENTEROLOGY Thursday, February 25, 2016

Mayo Clinic will host a Maintenance of Certification Learning Session that will feature the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) 2015 Update in Gastroenterology knowledge module.

The primary purpose of the Learning Session is to facilitate completion of ABIM medical knowledge modules by board-certified internists and subspecialists of internal medicine in order to receive Maintenance of Certification credit. Learning Sessions are conducted in an interactive group setting with educational support, and are led by ABIM-certified physicians.

Participants who are enrolled in ABIM’s Maintenance of Certification program can order a copy of the 2015 Update in Gastroenterology from ABIM’s website, www.abim.org, and transfer and submit the answers discussed during the Learning Session to ABIM for scoring. Participants will have access to a score report that confirms whether or not the module was completed successfully. Those who complete the module successfully will receive 10 points for completing a 30-question module toward ABIM’s Self-Evaluation of Medical Knowledge requirement for Maintenance of Certification. You must be enrolled in ABIM’s Maintenance of Certification program to submit completed medical knowledge modules for scoring, feedback reports, and eligibility to receive Maintenance of Certification points and AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

This Hands-On Endoscopy Workshop is designed to provide attendees an opportunity to rotate through six of seven stations, allowing 25 minutes per station. Prior to the workshop, attendees will rank stations in order of preference and every effort will be made to accommodate each attendee’s top six selections.
