6TH MAYO CLINIC

CONFERENCE IN GYNECOLOGY: ROBOTIC & LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERYFUNDAMENTAL PERIOPERATIVE CONSIDERATIONS FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH PROVIDERS

Page 2: MAYO CLINIC CONFERENCE IN GYNECOLOGY

COURSE DESCRIPTION Mayo Clinic in Arizona presents this conference in an ongoing collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center to provide the latest evidence-based approach to gynecologic surgery, including oncology, urogynecology and pelvic pain.

Gynecologic surgery is deeply rooted in minimally invasive surgery. Starting with vaginal surgery, minimally invasive techniques evolved to endoscopic procedures with laparoscopy and robotic assisted surgery, which have replaced many procedures that had previously been performed only via laparotomy; allowing women to recover faster with fewer complications.

Mayo Clinic faculty, along with esteemed guest faculty will discuss tackling advanced gynecologic surgery and pelvic floor disorders, such as pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain. This course will feature surgical video presentations, panel discussions and didactic lectures on surgical approach, preoperative planning, genetic counseling, and enhanced recovery pathways.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this course, participants should be able to:• Describe different applications of robotic

surgery for gynecologic benign and malignant conditions.

• Apply operating room safety measures for robotic and laparoscopic surgery.

• Assess when robotic and laparoscopic surgery is appropriate for patients with gynecologic conditions.

• Identify the benefits of using minimally invasive surgical approaches.

Attendance at this Mayo Clinic course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course.
