Shepherds Voice 3

By Pastor Paul Bodin, Interim Pastor

Gods beloved people,

If you were at worship last Sunday, April 26, you heard my announcement: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Gil-lette, Wyoming, has called me to serve as their senior pas-tor, and I am accepting.

My last day at Good Shepherd will be Sunday, May 31. As we prepare to leave, I am confident that you are now poised to move forward from strength to even greater strength. God is preparing somebody to serve as your pastor in the next chapter of your ministry. You have chosen an out-standing Call Team; they are working carefully to follow the Spirits guidance. As you pray and seek together, God will be with you to lead you to your next partner in ministry.

In the meantime, President Paul Brosy and the rest of your Governing Board will be working together with the staff to provide a smooth transition for this congregation. Pastor Nancy Feniuk Nelson, the Bishops Associate, will also help the Governing Board, the Call Team and the staff prepare for the weeks between my departure and the arrival of your new pastor. Good Shepherd will be well led and well cared for.

Cherie and I would appreciate your prayers as we prepare for this big change in our lives. We will be packing and planning for the next several weeks. On May 13 I will at-tend the Rocky Mountain Synod Assembly in Salt Lake City to be introduced to the Synod; Cherie will join me there and we will travel to Gillette on May 46 to work on finding hous-ing. I will be back here in the office on May 7. We will take the first two weeks in June to make the actual move, and I will begin my duties in Gillette on June 15.

Gillette is a mining, energy, and ranching center in far north-east Wyoming, between the Bighorn Mountains and the Black Hills. If you plan a trip to Devils Tower, Mt. Rush-more, or Sturgis you will likely drive through Gillette. If you pass through, please stop in to say hello!

I will be sad to leave Lutheran Church of the Good Shep-herd. It has been a privilege and my great delight to serve as your interim pastor for these eleven months. Cherie and I have found many good friends and a warm, supportive community here. You will remain in our hearts and in our prayers.

Grace and Peace,

PASTORS MESSAGE In April, the Call Team submitted our Minis-try Site Profile to the Sierra Pacific Synod. We want to thank everyone who helped contribute to the profile with their words, attendance at events, and most im-portantly, prayers.

We now are in the second phase of the call process. The Synod will review our Site Pro-file and make it available for potential candi-dates to review and declare their inter-est. We should have a list of candidates by late May, at which point the interview proc-ess will begin with the goal of presenting a candidate to the congregation in the early summer.

As always, we will update you on our pro-gress and welcome questions along the way.

Thank you, and God bless.
