May 5, 2017 Many saving opportunities at Auxiliary Gift Shop The Auxiliary Gift Shop is offering employees and patrons a chance to save on multiple gifting and shopping opportunities. Fashion Sale - Starting this week, the gift shop is hosting a clothing fashion sale with 25 percent off all clothes. Please stop by and check it out. Mother’s Day Custom Basket - Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14 and the gift shop is creating Mother’s Day gift baskets filled with tea, cookies, pretties and more. The gift shop will be closed May 14, so stop by early to order your mom’s gift basket. If a custom basket isn’t your mom’s style, the gift shop has a ton of ideas for just the right gift. Mother’s Day Bonus - If you spend $25 in the Auxiliary Gift Shop on taxable items, they’ll register you for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate from the Auxiliary Gift Shop. The raffle winner will be drawn on Friday, May 12 at 4 p.m. - just in time for a little something extra for your mom! Nurses Day - National Nurses Week is May 6-12, so stop by the gift shop and pick up a gift for your favorite nurse. Call me maybe The PBX department has begun using an auto attendant phone system after-hours. During weekdays from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. and on weekends from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m., calls from outside the hospital will be routed to the automated attendant. The auto attendant will present the caller with options to select and then be transferred to a department or nursing station. The callers also have the option to speak to an after-hours operator if needed. Can you hear me now? LaChanda Maxie, medical staff services manager, reminds us that we need to keep our phone lists, especially for physicians, as up-to- date as possible. Many of us still have a preference for our paper phone lists, so these need to be changed monthly as contact info changes. It’s a matter of patient safety. “A provider who moved a year ago, was called at their old office number, recently,” LaChanda said. Changes are emailed, faxed and updated on the medical staff services intranet page regularly, so get in the habit of checking the online preference list on the intranet. If numbers need to be corrected, call LaChanda at ext. 8599. Our board member Patrick Kuhns threw out the first pitch at a recent SFA baseball game. The head coach and his whole team lined up to say thanks to several Memorial representatives for the support the hospital has provided to SFA sports this year.

Wilcox has personal interest in heading Memorial team in Walk to End Alzheimer’s The Alzheimer’s Association is getting started early this year! We have a new area Outreach Coordinator, Crystal Capps, and she is working hard to bring more excitement and involvement to this movement. Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease and it has directly affected my family. So, I have gratefully accepted the role of team captain for Memorial Health. Go ahead and clear September 16, 2017 on your calendar because you are not gonna want to miss this years’ Walk To End Alzheimer’s! The walk will start at Festival Park at 9 a.m. As a participant in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I am leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor — but I can't take on this disease alone. Will you join me in the fight by walking with me? As a team, we can be an unstoppable force against the nation's sixth-leading cause of death. Registration is easy; simply visit my Walk to End Alzheimer's participant page and join OUR team. • 1st: CLICK ON My page: http://act.alz.org/goto/WalkingForPapaw• Then: JOIN OUR TEAM: MEMORIAL ALZ WALKERS!
