Musical Instruments Around the World

Music means different things to all of us. Music can reflect how we are

feeling at the moment, the tone of a space, the feeling we should feel in

a part of a movie. Music is one of many ways that we can express our-

selves. We hear different sounds every day. The wind through a wind

chime, the song of a bird, but how do we make those noises become

sounds and turn them into music? This month we will learn about dif-

ferent cultures and their instruments. Why are they special? How can a

turtle be musical? What kind of music do they play? We will focus on

Percussion and make some of our own instruments throughout the

month. Be looking for fun, hands on activities in May, and maybe a

group music session once we make all of our instruments!
