Last week in Children’s Church we
learned about Joshua and Caleb. They
were confident in God’s Promise and
remained faithful to Him. Most of the
time, I do not understand Gods plan, and I don’t think I’m alone on this.
However, it is important that we trust
God, no matter what His plan is. We
must remain faithful to Him through
the good and the bad.
I finished the Summer Schedule for
the Children’s Program, copies are in
various places around the church. If
you see a particular event that you
would be interested in helping outwith, please contact me! (606) 524-

SCOTT’S THOUGHTS
Matthew 5:14-16
New Living Translation (NLT)
14 “You are the light of the world—like a cityon a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No onelights a lamp and then puts it under abasket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in thehouse. 16 In the same way, let your good
deeds shine out for all to see, so thateveryone will praise your heavenly Father.
As Christians, we have the good news thateveryone needs. We have an opportunity toreach a world around us that desperatelyneeds Jesus. We have the opportunity to livelife with and for Jesus so that others can seethe difference he has made in us. This leadsto a couple of important questions: are weallowing Jesus to change us from the insideout? And Are we letting others see thechange?
Following Jesus is not just about oursalvation, but also about accepting our rolein bringing salvation to others. That means

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and
vision of Fifth Avenue Church of
Christ are:
Christ-Centered Worship We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus
through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on
Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching &
understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).
Church Health and Biblical Balance
Church health becomes reality when God's people seek
harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to
protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter
3:8)
Global Evangelism We are constant to our founding call to worldwide
evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior,
Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).
Fellowship and Ministry After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip
them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We
want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians
12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence
of His love and power to the world.

Library Spotlight
“Listen, Live & Laugh Bible Stories” is a “Mommy
and Me” book to introduce even the youngest child
to Bible concepts and characters – creation, Noah,
Jonah, Christmas, Easter, and heaven – and make
the lessons more memorable with simple lifeapplications and a healthy dose of silliness. The
authors, Christine Tangvald and Rondi DeBoer
have written many children’s books, and Robert
Neubecker has been illustrating for over 20
years.
“Ruth” is an adult fiction book by Lori Copeland,
from her “Brides of the West 1872” series. The
book tells the story of spunky, young Ruth
Priggish who is on the run from an 80-year-old
suitor. Faced with the prospect of marriage to
the persistent old codger, Ruth throws caution to
the wind and heads for Wyoming Territory, where
freedom and independence await. Her only hope is
to seek help from an unwilling protector: Dylan
McCall. U.S. Marshall Dylan McCall is trying
desperately to get to Wyoming before winter sets
in. But when he finds himself saddled with a
stubborn spitfire who won’t take no for an answer,
his job – and his heart – are at stake.
Be sure to stop by our library and check out agood book.
