The Holy Spirit in man acts as conscience, as repentance, as an inner moral compass, as an urge to pray, as the desire to forgive, as a concern for someone in tragedy, as an outrage against social injustice, as a direction for the future. The Holy Spirit respects the freedom of man’s will, therefore we can say that we open our hearts and minds to the promptings of the Holy Spirit when we show courage not only in proclaiming but living the Gospel, when we open our hearts in prayer, when we make wise choices, when we are faithful to our vows and promises, when we choose the common good and many more. If we say “no” to what He tells us to do, He will never force us. The choice is ours to follow or reject. Remember whoever cooperates with Him acquires more graces but whoever resists Him loses other graces and must answer at the Last Judgment of his obstinacy. Pentecost Sunday (Year B)Do not leave Jerusalem but wait for the fulfillment of the Fathers promise. (Acts 1:4). This is the last instruction Jesus gave to His apostles before He ascended to heaven. And Pentecost is the fulfillment of the Fathers promise when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles in the form of tongues of fire which parted and came to rest upon each one of them. Here, the baptism of fire announced by John takes place, .I baptize you with water, but the One Who is coming will do much more: He will baptize you with Holy Spirit and fire (Luke 3:16).Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Holy Trinity Who is distinct from the Father and the Son but one Being, co-equal and co-eternal with Them, because like Them, He is in the fullest sense God (POCKET: Catholic Dictionary).Thats why at Mass we say .Who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified

How were the apostles affected by the descent of the Holy Spirit? The Pentecost as the Spirit of God was the source of the strength of

    Yes, Holy SpiritJulieta G. Aquilo

the apostles to endure persecution and was the force in the missionary efforts to spread the Good News that Christ died and had risen.

This same Spirit emboldened the apostles to proclaim the message of salvation to the whole world as they were now fully enlightened of the teachings of

Jesus making them more fully converted to the faith in Him. With the descent of the Holy Spirit, the Apostolic Church was born as both a sign and instrument of salvation.

How does the Holy Spirit work in the Church as the People of God? The Holy Spirit makes His entry into mans life at the Sacrament of Baptism when He

brings with Him His grace which enables the soul of the baptized to know, love and enjoy God. This is the supernatural life that makes man see with His sight, work with His power and thus the soul is born into a new life of faith. This new life in man makes him united with Christ and the Temple of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in man acts as conscience, as repentance, as an inner moral compass, as an urge to pray, as the desire to forgive, as a concern for someone in tragedy, as an outrage against social injustice, as a direction for the future. The Holy Spirit respects the freedom of mans will, therefore we can say that we open our hearts and minds to the promptings of the Holy Spirit when we show courage not only in proclaiming but living the Gospel, when we open our hearts in prayer, when we make wise choices, when we are faithful to our vows and promises, when we choose the common good and many more. If we say no to what He tells us to do, He will never force us. The choice is ours to follow or reject. Remember whoever cooperates with Him acquires more graces but

whoever resists Him loses other graces and must answer at the Last Judgment of his obstinacy. (Catechism Made Simple, Part I by ACCCE)

So, choose what is always true and good as our saying, YES to the teaching and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Know Nathaniel, follow him.

(May kasugpon)

Persons are gifts from God to meThat comes all wrapped so differentlyI am a person and for this reasonA wonderful gift of loveWe are all persons, we are all gifts.

Last May 10-13, 2015, the Igbaras Parish Youth Ministry had their 3rd batch of Youth Encounter. I was one of the facilitators facilitating 28 participants was challenging and the happiest thing to do.

As an understudy facilitator, the encounter was the most challenging for me because I had listened to their stories. Listening with my ear is easy, but listening with my heart is a tough task for me as a facilitator. I am very sensitive, which means that I can feel how they felt even if I didnt experience what they had undergone. Being a facilitator, I obliged myself to be an example of Jesus for them. I did my best to be a good listener, willing to hear all their unending dramas in life, comforting them through hugs and tapping their shoulders saying everything will be alright.

This is one of my happiest moments, when I get involved in youth activities

and in the Youth Encounter. I am a part of it. Because of this I meet new friends, students with varied characters, young professionals, and out-of-school youth in the green, wide and warm elementary school of Brgy. Tabiac, Igbaras, where we held the four-day Youth Encounter. I was able to lead an animation and game activity which they really enjoyed especially the Maru-Maru game.

In connection with the song Persons are Gifts, I was able to appreciate more how worthy the persons are around

me. On the last day of the encounter the participants affirmed how grateful they are that we have come to their lives. I realized then how they have appreciated our efforts in moving them which gives meaning also to our life. Knowing that they learned a lot from us during the four-day activity, I believed that we have helped them love themselves and their family. We were able to bring one another closer to our Lord Jesus, our God. Personally it helps me determine my purpose in this world and that is, to be a gift for others.

    A Gift for Others

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMOHC), Jaro Parish Ministry of Altar Services (JPMAS) kag Himig Katedral.

Kanugon kay bata pa sia nga ginbawi-an sang iya hulam nga kabuhi kag maalam sia kuntani.

In line with the desires of the Jaro Parish Administration to improve the Liturgical celebrations, all Liturgical Ministries including the MKKs in the barangays are required to conduct an election of new officers this June.

Prior to the undertaking, an orientation and formation on the Spirituality of Leadership is to be conducted to ensure that prospective leaders are truly suited to perform their respective functions. Rev. Fr. Nathaniel G. Gentizon is tasked by the Parish Administration to give this Orientation-Formation program.

During the regular meeting of the Ministry of Readers last May 17, 2015, Fr. Gentizon gave the participants an orientation focusing on Jesus as the Good Shepherd Who does not leave His flock unattended. He reminded us on the Latin word Ego Sum Pastor Bonus, written at the

Tabernacle, which means I am a Good, Shepherd.

Among others, there are three leadership spirituality in which he shared:1. Trinitarian Spirituality a

good leader must remember always that God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit are united in love. So, just like the Holy Trinity, a leader must also be united with his followers, and must be based on truth. A good leader should maintain good relationship with his or her members to enhance maximum productivity. This relationship should relate to all members and not to a few exclusive members. You are called to be present with the people and ensure a sense of belongingness.

    2. Daily life Spirituality a good leader knows the life of the people he or she serves. He or she must visit the homes of the poor people to know

their way of life. As Pope Francis said: Come out, go to the periphery. A good leader should share the daily life of the people with their joys and pains. As what Fr. Gentizon said, his present visitations to the houses of the Parish scholars and poor families gave him inspiration as a priest and have made him come to realize the full meaning of his life.

    3. Leadership that multiplies a good leader should know how to delegate the works and responsibilities to his or her followers to help them become good leaders, too. He or She should not do all things by himself/herself. His/her role is not to inspire followers but to inspire leaders. He or She must create a community of leaders, and not of followers.I hope with all these

reminders, we can choose good leaders of our ministries or barangays this June.

May 20, 2015. Good weather returned to Rome, and it brought large crowds to the Pope's general audience on Wednesday.Moving among the thousands of pilgrims,

the Pope heard a unique sound in St. Peter's Square. And just moments before he delivered his catechesis, he discovered where the music was coming from.

Pope Francis reflected on the challenges of raising children and how hard it is to find balance between affection and authority. He said that some situations are harder than others.

"It is even harder for separated parents, who are weighed down by their situation. FLASH. They have struggled, have been separated and many times the child becomes

a hostage. The father speaks ill of the mother and the mother speaks ill of the father. And a lot of damage is done.

Not included was a condemnation of their status as separated parents. Instead, he talked about the children and how to care for their emotional needs in complicated situations like this.

"To you, separated couples, I advise: Never, never, never, take your child hostage. You are separated by so many difficulties and life has tested you. But children should not carry of the burden of your separation.

According to the Pope, it is necessary for parents to play a role in educating their children. They must assume most of the responsibility of intellectual formation, and not pass it off to teachers or other educational

professionals. "Deprived of their role, parents feel guilty

and become possessive in their relationship with their children, to the point of never correcting them. Increasingly, they tend to entrust their children to experts. Even with the most sensitive and personal aspects of life, they get out of the way. And so parents are likely to opt out of their children's lives, and this is very serious.

After the audience, Pope Francis repeated his call for religious freedom. He recalled that next Sunday is the day of prayer for Catholics in China, and on Saturday night Italian bishops convened a prayer vigil for persecuted Christians worldwide. The Pope said that the persecution of Christians is a great tragedy in our time and an unacceptable crime. Romereports.com

In my daily prayers, I try to ponder on some passages which have become a great help to me in my old age. Allow me to share with you my prayer every Tuesday:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love, where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith.

Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy and grant Oh Lord that I must not so much seek to be consoled, as to console.

To be understood, as to understand, to be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving, that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned

And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

You may have your own prayers but if you think that the prayers Im sharing with you, can also help then you may try them.

For Friday:Lord Jesus, we gather in spirit at the

foot of the Cross with your other and the disciple whom you love (St. John). We ask your pardon for our sins which are the cause of your death. We thank you for remembering us in that hour of salvation and for giving us Mary as our mother. Holy Virgin, take us under your protection and open us to the actions of the Holy Spirit.

St. John, obtain for us the grace of taking Mary into our life, as you did, and of assisting her in her mission.

May the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen. For Saturday:

Remember oh most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or your divine intercession, was

left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you oh Virgin of Virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

Oh Mother of the Word Incarnate despise not my petition, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

x-x-xLet us all be instruments of change.

Newspapers, radio broadcasts, television sets, and other means of communication are filled with the news of negative values which make our people shiver with fear.

There is only one way to combat these ills. Let us turn to God and plead with Him to make this world worthy to live in.

Let us bend our knees; raise our eyes, our hands, and our voice to heaven. With the Blessed Virgin beside us, we need not fear; we need not doubt.Pray. Have faith. God listens. He answers.

This year, there are about 109 children who participate in the Flores de Mayo. Mrs. Lourdes Alquisada, Barangay Worship Coordinator, leads the devotion with the members of the Children of Mary (COM) from Colegio de San Jose. Children enjoy lessons from film showing and bible stories. Some grade three and grade six pupils are being prepared for First Communion and Confirmation.
