May 2020 Newsletter Dove Healthcare - South Eau Claire A Testimonial from Mike Wade Mike shared, "On December 31, I fell approximately 12 feet while shoveling snow off my roof. The fall fractured my right hip and shoulder joints. After two weeks in Marshfield Clinic's ICU, I was transferred here. I arrived flat on my back, dependent on others for almost everything. Mobility, transfers, self cares, and even meal set up required assistance. After four months, I am now independent with all transfers, self cares, and dressing. Mobility has progressed from being pushed in a wheelchair to ambulating independently with a four-wheel walker. This journey has been so very difficult on many levels. Not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I am thankful for the love and support of my family and friends. I am also forever grateful to the exceptional employees at Dove Healthcare - South Eau Claire. You have cared for me when I was most fragile and along with my family, brought hope to what I believe were the worst days of my life. My rehabilitation team of Angela, Brenda, Sarah, and Erin, along with many others, displayed exceptional skills to help me become as independent as possible and return home to my wonderful wife and daughter. Mikes testimonial continuedMikes testimonial continuedThe nursing team helped me through each day with selflessness and kindness. They were there to comfort and listen when I felt helpless. Angels do that. Social workers, dietary, housekeeping, maintenance, and the entire family here became my extended family. There are way too many heroes to mention, and I look forward to a higher quality of life because of you all." Rehabilitation Director Angella Niblett shared, As John Denver said, I believe that we are here for each other, not against each other. Everything comes from an understanding that you are a gift in my life, whoever you are, whatever our differences. As a member of Team Mike’, it was and continues to be our daily goal to work towards a successful return home. The benefit of being an in-patient therapist is the opportunity to learn of patients' likes, dislikes, family, hobbies, and passions and use those as a part of physical and emotional recovery. Mike has shared his love and experience with music, which I believe has been an important part of his recovery. We often hear thank youfrom patients and their families as we help them on their path of recovery, but indeed, we as therapists are often thankful for our patients as well, and Mike is no exception. Watching him work hard motivates me to be better for him and myself. His road to recovery has been long, but successful. He has touched our employees and residents with his kindness and gentle heart. In a very short time we'll celebrate his departure from here and return home, but we will miss his presence and positivity for a long time. We are all proud of his accomplishments and thank him for trusting and choosing Dove Healthcare - South Eau Claire.Best wishes to you and your family, Mike. Congratulations to our Employee of the Month! Recreation Assistant Rachel Williams

Recreation Director Mandy Alvar shared, "Rachel joined our team as a recreation assistant in November 2019. From the very beginning, she has demonstrated amazing commitment, dedication, and heart, not only for the residents, but for her fellow co-workers across all departments. She is also a devoted advocate for the residents, as well as their families, and always makes sure they are heard and that their needs as a whole person are being met individually and as a community. All of our residents have so enjoyed her being in this role, because she is genuine, caring, fun, and enthusiastic, and she is the definition of a team player. I am so incredibly thankful for the smiles, sprit, creativity, and work ethic Rachel brings each and every day. She is so deserving of this recognition, and I know she will continue to grow and impact Dove Healthcare – South Eau Claire!”

Rachel shared, "I am so honored to have been selected as Employee of the Month. Words cannot express how grateful I feel to be part of such an amazing team. My colleagues provide remarkable care for all of our residents; everything is done with compassion and a smile. I feel so proud to work for such an exceptional place. This was a major career change for me, as I have never worked with this population before. I can say I have found my passion! I truly love all of our residents, and I so enjoy getting to know each of them, and their families as well. I look forward to coming into work and being able to spend my days making memories, sharing laughs, and sometimes being a listening ear for our residents. I feel the work that I do is so important and feel very blessed to be making a difference. Thank you so much to the team for this recognition!" Way to go, Rachel!

This year, it's more important than ever that we celebrate and recognize our employees and their special relationships with our residents. Putting the needs of our residents first and keeping them at the center of all we do is our number one priority, and our amazing family of caregivers continues to demonstrate this every day, in so many ways, even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you to our employees for your commitment to making a difference, and thank you to our residents and their families for choosing Dove Healthcare and giving us the honor of caring for you.
