The attendance at our mid-week Suppers and Services was the best we’ve had in years. For those who set-up and cleaned-up, for those who brought food and those who made the delicious soups: Thank you! Thank you, al- so, to those in the “Holy Reader Theater” who brought us God’s word through “The Seven Deadly Sins” during our Lenten services and to those who volunteered to take part in the reading of the Passion for our services on Palm/Passion Sunday. I’m glad so many of you were able to share a por- tion of it with me. Easter did not end at sundown, but became a message for every believer to live out in their daily lives, to grow in faith, to go and tell. Each and every Sunday is an Easter celebration. Jesus told his disciples, “Do this in remembrance of me.” It is an invitation to a regular encounter with the Risen One, whenever two or three gather in Christ’s name. It means we can gladly gather weekly to thank God, to share our lives with each other, to carry each other’s burdens and joys, give generously of our resources so others might know what we know, and in everything give thanks. “This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes. On this day the Lord has acted; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:23-24)

It’s been a busy month, a busy season of Lent. It’s also been a wonderful month and a wonderful season of Lent. The attendance at our mid-week Suppers and Services was the best we’ve had in years. For those who set-up and cleaned-up, for those who brought food and those who made the delicious soups: Thank you! Finally, thank you to all who shared their “ministry of presence” as we walked to the Cross together.

Easter Sunday was a beautiful day. I’m glad so many of you were able to share a por-tion of it with me. We celebrated so many wonderful things – a large worship turn-out; a meaningful worship service that proclaimed a treasured faith; and simply great spring weather. All these and so much more are gifts, gifts that we did not make hap-pen. We can only react when they are given. We can enjoy, celebrate, and share the gifts of God as we gather, giving thanks that God has acted.

The mystery of our faith declares “Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.” The news of God is good, and it changes all of history. How can we re-act? Should we say, “So what? I’ve heard it and nothings new?” Or can we be open to God acting, in us, for us, to us, so we can rejoice and be glad in it? Easter did not end at sundown, but became a message for every believer to live out in their daily lives, to grow in faith, to go and tell.

Each and every Sunday is an Easter celebration. Jesus told his disciples, “Do this in remembrance of me.” It is an invitation to a regular encounter with the Risen One, whenever two or three gather in Christ’s name. It means we can gladly gather weekly to thank God, to share our lives with each other, to carry each other’s burdens and joys, give generously of our resources so others might know what we know, and in everything give thanks.

Your ministry of presence makes a difference…and not only in worship. Take ad-vantage of the opportunities the church offers to live out your faith through worship, fellowship, learning and service. Live out God’s gift in you.

Family Promise of Hall County will be back with us the week of May 7. This ministry is to

assist homeless children and their families. Currently, we have 10 congregations sharing in

this ministry in Hall County.

In the program currently (mind you, this can change at any moment) are 2 families for a

total of 8 people. 2 adults, and the children ages are: 8,7,6,5,and two 3 year olds. What a

great opportunity to volunteer time with your family.

There are a number of ways in which to volunteer to share the Love of God during this

time. We will need dinners for all nights (there are no diet restrictions at this time). If you

do sign up to cook or host a dinner, please get in touch with any other people that may

have signed up for the same night, so you can share the duties. It’s always a good thing to have too much food

than not enough. Our families love the Home Cooked meals they receive, and it also gives them ideas of things to

prepare once they are out on their own. I will try to send out a note at the start of the week with the number of

guests we will have and their ages, so please be sure your e-mail address and phone number is correct in the direc-

tory.

Other opportunities to volunteer for the week are:

Overnight hosts – we need 2 people each night to spend the night (you are out by 7:00 am, so you can attend to

your daily activities).

Laundry – at the end of our time, we have sheets, blankets and towels that will need to be laundered and returned

at some point before the next time we host.

Set-up & Break-Down help - The Sunday afternoon of arrival, we will need some help in preparing the bed-

rooms for our guests, and the Sunday morning of departure, we will need some help in putting the classrooms

back in order. Many hands make light work.

I pray that the congregation of Christ Lutheran again reaches out again for this opportunity to Know, Grow, Live

and Share the Love of God that is Christ Jesus!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

There are many opportunities to participate in the next few

months, if you are looking for ways to put your faith into action.

VBS and Family Promise are fast approaching...

Our youth decorated the shopping bags for us to take to put dona-

tions in when we shop for the Food Pantry. Speaking of the Food

Pantry, Cathy Freeman put a notice in the bulletin looking for vol-

unteers on Tuesday evenings.

I am looking for interested persons to help with the school supplies drive we do

for Back to School as summer will be here before you know it.

Diana Stroup is still collecting Box Tops for Education, and newspapers for

the Humane Society can be dropped off in front bin by door.. They will be much ap-

preciated! Any other ideas you would like to see our church family take on? Moved

to follow up on a good cause? See one of your council members and let’s see what

we can do.

Yours in Christ,

Toni Zavadil

Spring Clean-Up- Saturday, May 6th from 8-11am. We need members to help with our church clean up. We will be cleaning the gutters, putting down new pine straw, cleaning windows, etc. Please help if you can! We will also need a ladder to clean the gutters, rakes & yard tools to spruce up the outside.

Join us to help clean up God’s House of Worship!

Cathy Freeman takes over

Secure Online Giving!!!

Our church Online Giving continues to ex-

pand and needed more support than l could

provide. Every month we keep increasing

the donations from this great pro-

gram. Last month, $6,355.99 was submitted using this online

service. This is great for both CLC and for you!

Cathy has already begun by implementing an automated feature to receive our donations (called

file import) securely into our donations computer. Previously these were typed in each week

along with all other donations. This new method is much faster, accurate, and requires less time

and effort.

This is GREAT!! We can continue to expand our church Secure Online Giving service to simplify

your life and help us continue to meet our financial goals.

Now it’s your turn. Just go to our church website: www.clcga.org

and click on the Secure Online Giving link. Then pick up one of our colorful Dona-

tion Cards for the collection plate. Cathy will be happy she was able to help grow

this important program.

I am thrilled to report to the congregation that our remaining mortgage balance is now below $20,000. As of May 1, 2017 the outstanding balance is $18,766 leaving just under 20% of the original amount owed when the Mortgage Reduction effort began in January 2016!

A full pay-off of the mortgage in October still looks very realistic as long as the contributions to the Mortgage Reduction Fund continue as they have been. There may be something a bit special at Oktoberfest this year if the payoff projection holds.

Thanks to all for continuing the donations to this fund. You are helping set a great future for God’s work through Christ Lutheran Church.

FYI: Amplification device available to use We have purchased a “pocket talker” amplification device that is available for your use during ser-vices, simply see one of the ushers to borrow it. IF you prefer, you can bring your own ear buds (Or headset) to use with the device. It has a standard connection. The Pocketalker Ultra helps you stay connected to people and activities by amplifying sounds closest to you, while reducing background noise. Use with or without hearing aids. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Pastor Andy or myself. Yours in Peace – Kat Hartman
