San Diego’s only truly independent theater!
The PirogueRunning Time: 87 MinutesMay 1, 2A group of African men leave Senegal in a pirogue captained by a local fisherman to undertake the treacherous crossing of the Atlantic to Spain where they believe better lives and prospects are waiting for them.
Vivan Las Antipodas!Running Time: 108 MinutesMay 2, 4, 5Antipodes refer to populations settled on precisely opposite sides of the globe, an exceedingly rare occurrence given the percentage of the Earth’s surface covered in water. Award-winning filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky uses the idea of antipodes to launch a dizzying and exuberant travelogue moving between Argentina and China, Russia and Chile, Botswana and Hawaii, Spain and New Zealand, illuminating uncanny continuities and disturbing disjunctions between the landscapes and cultures encountered there.

MARCH, APRIL & MAY
As Luck Would Have It Synopsis: An out-of-work publicist who suffers an accident looks to sell the exclusive interview rights to the highest bidder in an attempt to provide for his family.
G-Dog (Docurama) Synopsis: Father Boyle, a Jesuit priest also known as G-Dog, is the visionary behind Homeboy Industries, the largest, most successful gang intervention and rehab program in the United States. However, when the donations and support are not coming in fast enough and Homeboy is at risk of closing its doors, Father Boyle and the young men and women from the program rally together in an effort to keep program afloat.
Vivan Las Antipodas (Docurama)Synopsis: Two pairs of antipodes, dry-land spots that lie opposite each other on the earth, are compared in this documentary. The first pair of antipodes are a ferry across a river in Entre Rios, Argentina and busy, downtown Shanghai. The second comparison is of two bleak, mountainous regions, Lake Baikal in Russia and Patagonia in Chile, and shows that the regions are actually more similar than different.
Future WeatherSynopsis: Lauduree is a 13-year-old loner, passionate about nature and obsessed with ecological disaster. Greta, her grandmother, is a fiery nurse jaded by alcohol and disappointment. When Lauduree is abruptly abandoned by her dreamer single mom, she decides to take survival into her own hands, forcing her and Greta to learn to trust each other and leap into the unknown.
Trashed Synopsis: Jeremy Irons sets out to discover the extent and effects of the global waste problem, as he travels around the world to beautiful destinations tainted by pollution. This is a meticulous, brave investigative journey that takes Irons (and us) from scepticism to sorrow and from horror to hope. Brady’s narrative is vividly propelled by an original score created by Academy Award winning composer Vangelis.
K-11 Synopsis: A record producer comes around after binging on drink and drugs. He finds himself in a section of the Los Angeles County Jail reserved for homosexuals, which is ruled by a transsexual named Mousey.
Paris Manhattan Synopsis: Alice is an offbeat pharmacist surrounded by a nice, dysfunctional family. And still single. When she meets Vincent, the perfect guy, her life seems to change for the best. But she also meets Victor. Not the perfect guy. So why does he turn her life upside down this way? Featuring a cameo performance by Woody Allen!
The Pirogue Synopsis: A group of African men leave Senegal in a pirogue captained by a local fisherman to undertake the treacherous crossing of the Atlantic to Spain where they believe better lives and prospects are waiting for them.
I Am Not a Hipster Synopsis: Based in San Diego’s indie music and art scene, exploring what it means to be creative in the face of tragedy.
