The Price Is Finally Right

Selling brokers are looking forward to an increase in activity, and they are attributing the renewed market energy to boat owners agreeing to price their boats correctly. “If we get the boat priced in the right area, we’re starting to get multiple offers,” says Michael Selter, a broker with Fraser Yachts in San Diego, California. “Compared to last year, our whole office is busy.”

Sellers may not be getting what they thought their boats were worth. “We say they’re taking a hit, but it’s a hit in their own mind, lower than what they expected,” Selter says. “But they’re also going to pick it up on the purchase of their next boat.”

This 2009 Azimut 85-foot motoryacht has room for eight guests in four comfortable en suite staterooms. Twin 1,825-hp Caterpillar C32 diesels push her to 27 knots.
