How does Memory Foam Shape Up?A slow recovery foam often described as “memory” foam, readily responds to heat because of its energy absorbing and temperature sensitivity, moulding perfectly around the source of compression. Regardless ofthe weight, the foam spreads eveny and distributes pressure by increasing the surface area and so the pressure is reduced to an absolute minimum.

The presssure mape below shows how the foam mattress compares to traditional materials when used, in this example as a mattress filling. The warmer the colour, the more unfavourable the pressure to the human body

What is memory foam?Since the introduction of memory foam in the early 1990’s by the consumer bedding industry it has become one of the most popular sleep surfaces ever invented.

Originally developed by NASA engineers in the late 1970’s to reduce pressure during space travel. It began to be applied to the medical industry for therapeutic properties shortly after. Because of its unique molding charac-teristics and therapeutic healing power it has been hailed by sports therapists, chiropractors and even world renowned athletes.

A: We use high quality visco elastic and polyurethane foam in our mattresses. The price of Visco Elastic Foam has come down considerably in the last few years and we are passing this saving on to our customers. The question should be “Why are other Visco Elastic Mattresses so expensive.

The Memtec Combi-Air™ is engineered to allow a cooler and dryer sleep experience with excellent moisture management properties, incorporating the following:

Three dimensional, air channelling, corrugation design to the top surface of the memory foam allows air to flow more freely around the body resulting in a cooler sleep without compromising any pressure relieving characteristics.

During development of the Combi-Air™ the Concept team also solved the ‘lack of bounce’ associated with conventional memory foam mattresses.

The answer came in the form of a ‘middle-layer’ of laytech™ sand-wiched between the base PU foam and the visco-elastic (’memory’) top layer. This middle layer offers optimum levels of ‘spring’ and sup-port as well as a superior performance and durability.

The result gives added ‘bounce’ (rebound properties) and better circulation compared to a standard memory foam mattress.

Patented 3D-’Spacer’ is a three-dimensional fabric which allows air to flow through it and retains moisture, which is gradually dispersed through evaporation resulting in a much ‘drier’ sleeping experience. It is significantly more effective than a standard matress cover.
