• Draws inspiration from his father, who is a cancer survivor. “He got di-agnosed when I was 13 years old,” said Robertson. “He needed surgery, therapy, the whole bit. Seeing him battle and what he went through had a huge impact on me. It gives me strength whenever I face any sort of adversity.”

• Grew up an avid fan of the Edmonton Oilers and lists Ryan Smyth as his hockey idol. Also cheered for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors

ONE TIMERS

A second round draft choice of the Rangers in 2019, Matthew Robertson spent the last five seasons skating for the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL. Rob-ertson played in 22 games in 2020-21 and tallied four goals and 18 assists for 22 points. The Edmonton, Alberta, native has served as an alternate captain since 2018-19.
