Board of Directors 2014-15 Term

Dear Members and Friends,

The past year at the York JCC has been an exciting one for many reasons. It has been a signature moment

in the story of the JCC and our greater community.  It was a year of unprecedented change, growth, and

many things to celebrate.

Change – Randy Freedman announced her retirement plans to leave her position as CEO at the end of

2015. She had been at the JCC since 1991, becoming Executive Director in 2003. During her tenure we

experienced unprecedented growth and service to both the Jewish community and the community at

large. Randy has been an extraordinary and professional leader for the JCC as well as many other non-

profit organizations in which she has been involved. We are going to miss her very much and we are

happy she is staying in York as she will continue to be an asset to the community. We are excited for her

as she begins planning this next stage in her personal life.

Growth – On November 6, 2014, York JCC staff, Board members, capital campaign donors and

local dignitaries gathered as Campaign Co-Chairs, Tom Wolf and Tim Grumbacher, led the official

groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the next phase of the Capital Campaign and Build. We added

three classrooms, increased the space for fitness and other programs, moved and enlarged the

babysitting room, as well as freshened up many parts of the building.  During this time of transition, the

entire staff continued to serve the community cheerfully and professionally. Our dedicated Board of

Directors closely collaborated with staff to ensure that our mission and goals continued to be achieved in

a fiscally responsible manner.

Celebration - We have so many accomplishments to celebrate. Membership continued to grow as well

as programming.  We saw the addition of JFamily, Fit-Stops, and Paw Patrol Rescue Unit, to name a few.

The York JCC also broadened its reach into the community through Youth Fitness, Diversity and Cultural

programming.

This next year will be just as exciting as construction is finalized, new classrooms are filled, and more

wellness programs are offered.  We thank all for taking part in our journey, for being part of our family,

and for making us a part of yours.  And we welcome all those who are yet to join us.

Bob Grossman

We also look forward to working with our new CEO, Scott Katz, who will

lead us into the next chapter in the York JCC’s history.

We thank all for taking part in our journey, for being part of our family, and for making us a part of yours.

And we welcome all those who are yet to join us.
