Hello everyone It has been so wonderful to be back up and running as normal. Nearly all of our students have now returned to school. Every student. Every day. This is what I would like all of our families to think about. It is so important now, especially after the major disruption to learning that has occurred, that every student is at school, every day so we can help them to catch up all of the learning that they have missed. This is especially true for ALL YEAR 6 students and ALL KINDY students. If we can support you at all, please let us know.
Library All students participate in weekly library lessons every Thursday. At this stage students can’t b o r r o w b o o k s d u e to restrictions. As soon as this changes, we will let you know. This week our new furniture arrived for our library making it a more inviting and comfortable place to learn and read!
Barkindji Language & Culture Lessons Each week all of our students participate in a Barkindji language lesson for 1 hr with AECG Language Tutor Dellice Byers and our AEO’s Aunty Naomi & Uncle Will. Students are loving there lessons and have been learning how to count to 10 and different colours in Barkindji.

We have been learning about Multiplication &
Division. We are learning to share equally between
groups!
Everyday we do our exercises and count
to 100!
We really enjoyed listening to the story Chicken
Divas with all other Australian schools
during National
Simultaneous Story Time. We are all in the ‘World of the
Story’.
Well done to Israel, Jacinta and Manny who each presented part of their information report on Sea turtles at Fridays assembly. Congratulations to Roger, Israel and Jacinta who received awards. A big shout out to Latron on receiving the attendance award for Emus. Students need to be at school everyday by 9 o’clock to be in the running to win this award. Great Job Latron !
In English, this week Emus with be learning how to write a persuasive text, We will be reading “Don’t let the Pigeon Stay Up Late!” as one of our persuasive texts this week!
Have a great week from Jennifer, Naomi and Josh!

Hello all and welcome to week 6.
We hope that you have had a great week and that the colder weather is treating you kindly, I know that I’ve found my extra layers of clothing to help ‘fight off’ the chill! Just as a reminder on the cold days, please check that your Childs jackets still have a name clearly marked. We are missing a students from our room and it is not at school. Just checking would be much appreci-ate.
We have been working hard in class during the past week. During Maths we have been looking at collecting data and making graphs. The students were lucky enough yesterday to use ‘Smarties’ to help us with our ‘work!’ I think most of the children enjoyed the final part of the activity … being able to eat their Smarties.
Last weeks Student of the week was Ciera. Ciera has shown growth with her maturity and choices. It has been fantastic to see her slow down and think before acting or speaking. Cameron and Daijon were the classes two achievement award recipients. Cameron always has a positive attitude towards his learning and Daijon tried so hard to complete every task that was asked of him last week to the very best that he could. Well done to all three students!
Just as another reminder, please, if there are any issues that we maybe able to assist with, don’t hesitate to contact the school so as we can help if we can.
As another week passes, we here in Perch Class would like to wish you all a very happy, safe and warm week ahead.
Janet, Wendy, Lisa and Perch Students.
Goannas Dareton Goannas are building on their knowledge and working to be the best they can each week. I am always impressed with the way my students are thinking before taking action. This week we learnt numbers 6-10 in Barkindji. Our very own Raymond took to the words so well and can recite them without looking at any prompts! Well done. Some of our Goannas have completed their information reports on "What Aboriginal life was like before Colonisation". These very informative posters are looking incredible and our Goannas have worked so hard on them. We can't wait for our turn on office display to share these. In Maths, we have been continuing our multiplication grid race with so much enthusiasm. Each day, I am so pleased to hear the excitement when I call out the time for the grid race. We have also been focussing on long division. Although it is a complicated process, the Goannas are persevering and practicing the steps taken to divide big numbers. Always so proud. SaCC Playgroup Activity Packs
At this stage we are still not up and running back with our usual SaCC activities. SaCC is still providing Playgroup Activity packs
and touching base with families each week. Last week in our Activity packs we did our Paper Fish and a
Weaving activity. We also did letters and numbers with some of our families and children that we visited.
We also payed our respect and acknowledged Reconciliation week by creating a Sea of Hands.
Any families that have children who do not attend school are welcome to contact me for a Playgroup activity pack.
