The MathAmigo System
MathAmigo has two parts:
1. MathAmigo Manager
2. Activity Machines
Classic MathAmigoPalm PDA and Alphasmart Dana
Types of Activity Machines
Pocket PCDesktop, Laptop and Tablet PCs
A Self Contained Classroom
MathAmigo Manager runs on a PC Activity Machines includes any computer or
portable device
MathAmigo Manager or Manager Access
Machine
Classroom computers can be used as Activity Machines
providing they are networked to a Manager or Manager Access
Machine.
This can also be an Activity Machine
Portable Set Ups
Locate MathAmigo Manager anywhere in the school Laptop or Dana carts, portable packs of handhelds
or Classic MathAmigo Machines
MathAmigo Manager or Manager Access
Machine
Portable Activity Machines include:
LaptopsTablet PCsPalm HandheldsClassic MathAmigoDanaMobile PCs
Location can be anywhere in the school. Data Transfer can be dealt with by technicians,
teaching assistants, admin staff, etc.
Computer Labs
Use in standard computer lab set ups
MathAmigo Manager or Manager Access Machine
All the PCs in the computer lab used as Activity Machines
Manager Machine can be in the computer lab: it can also be an activity
machine
Network
Connect Manager and Manager access machines across your school
MathAmigo Manager (Does not need to be
a server)
Location can be anywhere in the school. Data Transfer is through the network.
Teachers can use their classroom computers to access the Manager.
Using Activity Machine
Shared Mode Individual Mode
Suitable for situations where one to one computing has been achieved with each student having their own laptop or handheld computer
1. Time table equipment to different classrooms2. In a classroom students work in groups and the equipment moves between groups3. Set up activity centres and students rotate through each centre during a lesson4. Use to support groups in a class who need special help5. Use with pull out groups – gifted or special support6. Let students use for homework
